while there are some pacing issues in the second half of the film, all in all, "The Weekend" is a wonderful little film that shines because of the performances by the actors, particularly Sasheer Zamata, & the funny and sharp script by Stella Meghie
fun but slight romantic comedy; Maghie is adept at sliding between subplots and mixing her characters into talky combinations, all the better to maximize the film's slim 86-minute running time, but it's Zamata and her Zadie who steal nearly every moment
fresh and funny; Stella Meghie's slender but entertaining third feature; there's a lot to enjoy here in the performances of an appealing ensemble and the teasing, testy romantic badinage in which they engage
"The Weekend" was a delightful and entertaining film to watch and is another film on the path to refreshing cinema featuring new blood from Hollywood. Sasheer Zamata finally got a chance to deliver comedy in a way she wasn't able to do on SNL
"The Weekend" explores all kinds of relationships dynamics in its' rather short run time, and also manages to have some great cinematography and production design to boot... It's definitely worth seeing
