starring Judy Greer and Melanie Lynskey, "Lady of the Manor" is a delightful (if predictable) comedy that highlights its talented cast; while it may not be groundbreaking or innovative, it at least offers amusement
sometimes it's funny; other times, it's outright lame and needlessly crude; it all the more ashamed that Justin and Christian Long didn't refine the weaker sections, tell a more focused story, and eliminate the ill-advised sexually cruel jokes
despite the enjoyable chemistry between its leads and a promisingly offbeat premise, the buddy comedy does a better job of betraying its filmmakers' lack of imagination than it does conjuring any real laughs
as a buddy-comedy, there are some tender moments and truly funny scenes that make Lynskey and Greer a joy to watch. Unfortunately, all of that sincere joy is weighed down by several missteps and narrative distractions that lead to nowhere
