too bad Greutert and screenwriter Robert Ben Garant don't trust their dramatic sensibilities. They build toward a heartrending climax, only to tack on a cheap, cynical, and infuriatingly careless windup that destroys much of what they constructed
director Kevin Greutert manages some nicely drawn-out tension in isolated sequences, but novel twists and effective scares prove few and far between in this ludicrous bayou gothic
