Whitney Episode 2.01 Bawl and Chain

Picking up right where Season 1 left off, Season 2 begins with Whitney and Alex waking after their non-wedding day. After checking out their matching tattoos again, they agree to just tell everyone they're married now.

Whitney decides to invite her mom to dinner to celebrate the marriage. Before Whitney's mom arrives, Whitney coaches Alex on how to deal with her mother. Meanwhile, Roxanne and Lily struggle to find a good wedding gift for Whitney. Roxanne has no trouble coming up with gift ideas, but Lily always seems to find a reason to shoot down her suggestions.

Whitney's mom finally arrives for dinner to congratulate her daughter, but she quickly discovers that the marriage isn't real. Disappointed, Whitney's mom decides to hang out with her friend instead of staying for dinner. Whitney gets upset, which inexplicably causes Alex to become aroused, causing Whitney to become even more upset. She leaves in a huff.

Whitney decides to hang out with Roxanne and Lily to talk about Alex's "reaction" to seeing her cry, and the girls assure her it's no big deal. Meanwhile, Alex consults Mark about the incident. Mark assures Alex sometimes that sort of thing just happens.

Whitney and Alex return to their apartment, and both of them immediately apologize. Everything seems okay, until another petty argument swells up. Inexplicably angry, Whitney suggests that maybe they should just get a divorce, and Alex asks how they would even do that, since they're not even married. He can see from Whitney's reaction that this comment was over the line.

Whitney retreats to Roxanne's apartment to get away from Alex for a while. Later, Alex comes over to apologize and Roxanne and Lily head to Roxanne's enormous bedroom to give them some space. Roxanne tries to pitch more wedding gift ideas, and Lily eventually confesses that she can't afford a wedding gift because she's broke. Roxanne tells Lily that she likes taking care of her.

Meanwhile, out in the living room, Alex tells Whitney that she needs to accept his help sometimes and stop being so stubborn. She reluctantly agrees and they make up. Then, Whitney and Alex decide to exchange some silly wedding vows.

Later, at Whitney and Alex's apartment, the friends gather to give the new couple wedding presents. Mark gets them noise-cancelling headphones. Lily and Roxanne give Whitney a picture of Lily and Whit in college with Roxanne Photoshopped into it.
