From her car, Sun watches Ben talking to Jack, Kate and Sayid. Aaron is in his car seat in the back asleep, and Sun holds a gun that she plans to shoot Ben with. She gets out, approaches the group. Kate is shocked to see Sun there holding a gun on Ben and asks where Aaron is. Sun tells her in the car, and Kate races off. Sun tells Ben that if it weren't for him, Jin would still be alive. Ben tells her he didn't kill her husband because Jin is still alive... and he can prove it.

WHOOSH to the island. Jin is confused and asks Rousseau what year is it. She's a little taken aback but tells him it's 1988. Jin reels. He has no idea what's going on. He tells them he needs to go to his camp. They ask if he's been on this island before. Jin then asks if they saw the helicopter. Montand dismisses Jin's rambling and concentrates on the signal he's receiving. There must be an antenna on the island, and if they can get to it, they can use it to call for help. Jin doesn't know the way to the camp from where they are, but he can remember the way from the antenna tower. They tell Jin if he takes them to the antenna, then they'll find his camp. Jin agrees, and they set off.

Along the trek, Rousseau asks for water. They look around for Nadine, who had the canteen... but she's gone. Then Jin hears it -- the TICKA TICKA TICKA that he knows so well. His eyes go wide -- and then MWRRROOOAARRR! The French team spin around. What was that? Jin says monster. They race back through the jungle to look for Nadine and find her abandoned pack on the ground. There's no sign of her. MMMRRRWWWRR! A tree explodes out of the ground! Then something hurdles out of the sky and crashes down right in front of them. It's Nadine's body! Jin yells run, and they all take off.

Suddenly, the smoke monster shoots through the trees and grabs Montand's leg! It yanks him through the jungle as he screams for help! It drags him towards a decaying stone wall with a large gash at a corner. Robert leaps forward and grabs Montand by the arms. Both of them are dragged down into the mouth of the gash, so Jin grabs Robert. It's an epic tug-of-war as they try to pull Montand free of the smoke monster. But suddenly, with a violent jerk, there's a sickening crunch -- and Montand screams. Robert and Jin tumble backwards, and Robert realizes he is holding Montand's dismembered arm! They can hear Montand screaming for help from deep underground inside the gash. Robert goes inside the gash to help, and Rousseau wants to help, too, but Jin stops her. He says with the baby, no, she can't go.

Then Jin hears a strange, loud hum building. He looks around for the noise, and sees the sky start to wash out in a bright light. Rousseau asks what he's reacting to. She doesn't seem to be experiencing it. The flash builds in intensity and FAAZAAM! It's over. Jin is at the same exact place but everyone else is gone. He looks around and sees that the wall is some kind of ancient ruin and is covered with worn, carved symbols. He takes a step towards the gash in the wall and steps on something that cracks. He looks down and sees it's Montand's decayed arm. Jin freaks out and runs off into the jungle back to the beach. As he gets closer, he sees smoke rising up above the trees and heads towards it.

As Jin approaches the campfire, he notices an overturned music box. He looks around and finds two dead bodies. Then he overhears a man and woman shouting. He creeps around the brush and sees Rousseau, still pregnant, pointing her rifle at Robert, who has his rifle pointed at the ground. He implores Rousseau to put hers down. Rousseau says that he's not Robert, that the monster changed him. It made him sick. Robert says it's not a monster but a security system guarding that Temple. He loves her and doesn't want anything to happen to their baby. Rousseau slowly lowers her rifle. But when her rifle reaches her side, he whips his rifle up and CLICK! Pulls the trigger! But it doesn't fire. Robert is surprised. Heartbroken, Rousseau raises her rifle and shoots Robert between the eyes.

Jin tries to stop her, but she whips the rifle towards him and then recognizes him. You disappeared, she says. You're sick, too! You're a carrier! Her expression hardens, and Jin bolts into the jungle as BANG! BANG! Rousseau fires, barely missing him. Jin races through the jungle as Rousseau continues shooting at him. He hears another rumbling hum build, becoming louder and louder. Then --

FAAZAAM! A white flash engulfs him and quickly dissipates. Jin stumbles and falls to the ground. As he stands and starts to get his bearing, behind him he hears a gun cocking. But instead of Rousseau it's Sawyer! They're both shocked to see each other, and then they hug a hug of massive relief. Sawyer says he thought Jin died on the boat. Jin says no, in water. Then he asks where's Sun?

WHOOSH to the marina and Sun holding the gun on Ben. If he has proof Jin is still alive, then she wants to see it. Ben tells her there's someone in Los Angeles, and if Sun lets him take everyone there, he'll give her proof. Who is this "someone"? It's the person who's going to tell them how to get back to the island. They all react to that news. Kate is pissed. She asks Jack if that's what this was all about, pretending he cared about her and Aaron so he could convince her to go back. Jack tries to tell her that wasn't it, but Kate leaves with Aaron. Sayid says he also doesn't want any part of it. He gives Ben and Jack one last warning: if he sees either of them again, it'll be extremely unpleasant for all of them.

They drive off in Ben's van. Jack apologizes to Sun for leaving Jin behind and explains what happened during those hectic moments on the boat. Sun asks why Jack is telling her this now? Is it to stop her from killing Ben if he's lying about Jin? Jack says after what he did to Kate, if Sun doesn't do it then he will. But Ben has had enough. He slams on the brakes and stops the van. Angry and indignant, he explains he's helping them. And that if they knew what he has done to keep them safe, they'd never stop thanking him. If they want to shoot him then shoot him. But get on with it. Chastised, Jack and Sun back off. Sun tells him to drive.

WHOOSH to the island as Sawyer tries to explain everything to Jin, but Jin doesn't understand. Frustrated, he yells at Charlotte to translate. Charlotte explains in Korean that Locke wants to go to the Orchid station so Locke can bring everyone back. Jin asks why? Locke says because they never should have left. And then another flash happens. FAAHZAAM! This one is much worse than any they've experienced before. They're all in pain as the ground starts to rumble. It's like an earthquake. The hum builds and -- FAAZAAM! Another flash hits them.

Charlotte collapses to the ground. Faraday races over to her. Sawyer notices Juliet's nose is bleeding. Then she sees that Sawyer's nose is bleeding, too. The flashes are taking a toll on everyone. Charlotte starts speaking in Korean. Jin is afraid of what's she's saying. She switches to English and says not to let them bring her back no matter what -- this place is death.

Charlotte is delirious and floats in and out of consciousness, mumbling to herself. Faraday wants help carrying her, but Locke says she'll slow them down. Faraday says he's not leaving her when Charlotte, suddenly lucid, tells him to go without her. Before Faraday can protest, another flash happens -- FAAHZAAAAM! Everyone is panicked. They have to go now. Sawyer asks Locke if they don't know when they are, what if the Orchid isn't around? Charlotte seemingly answers by saying look for the well, that they'll find it in the well.

Sawyer's group makes it to the greenhouse, and it's actually there. Juliet says what are the odds they end up in the same time as this thing? And as if on cue -- FAAZAAMM! A flash washes over them, and they find themselves in a different time period -- one before the Orchid was built because the greenhouse is gone. Locke takes off through the brush and finds a well, just like Charlotte predicted. But how did she know it existed?

Faraday tries to help Charlotte as much as he can, but her condition deteriorates quickly. She explains that she grew up on the island with the Dharma Initiative. Then she moved away with her mom and never saw her father again. Her mom pretended that it never existed. That's why she became an anthropologist. She wanted to find the island again. And when she was living here there was a crazy man who scared her. He told her to leave the island and never, ever come back. That if she did come back, she would die. She thinks that man was Faraday.

The last flash was not good for Charlotte. She's dying, and she knows it. Faraday tells her he has a plan. He told Desmond to find his mother, and she'll help them. Charlotte's breathing get weaker, and Faraday sees her eyes go vacant. Charlotte is dead, and Faraday begins to cry.

At the well, Jin tells Locke to not bring Sun back. Locke says he has to bring them all back, but Jin says no. The island is bad. He makes Locke promise not to bring Sun back, not to bring their baby. Jin tells Locke to say he died and gives his wedding ring as proof. Locke agrees, and he rappels down the well and slips into darkness. Everyone is watching when they hear the rumbling hum and realize there's going to be another flash. Sawyer yells down for Locke to hold on when --

FAAZAAM! The rope in Locke's hands goes slack, and Locke crashes to the bottom of the well with a loud SNAP! His leg breaks, and Locke screams. Up on the surface, the well is gone and the rope Sawyer clutches goes straight into the ground. Sawyer starts digging, but Juliet stops him and calmly says they can't help Locke.

In the underground chamber, Locke cries out in pain. There's a burst of light, and Locke can glimpse the bone sticking out from below his knee. Then Locke hears someone moving down there with him. He asks who's there. The person lights a lantern and turns around -- it's Christian Shephard. Locke asks him what he's doing down there, and Christian says he's there to help him the rest of the way. When he told Locke he had to move the island, he meant Locke himself had to do it. Christian tells him to visit a woman who lives in Los Angeles. Once he gets all his friends together, this woman will tell them exactly how to come back. Her name is Eloise Hawking. Then Christian explains that on the other side of the column is a wheel that's slipped off its axis. All Locke has to do is give it a little push.

Locke chokes back the pain as he drags himself over to the wheel. It's slightly cock-eyed, vibrating and shifting. Another burst of light emanates from the behind the wheel. Locke grabs it and strains, pushing on it as -- CLICK. The wheel slips back into place and turns. The result is instantaneous. Immediately the hum begins to build and the light behind the wheel gets brighter. Christian asks Locke to tell his son he said hello. Locke asks who's his son? But the light consumes them both.

WHOOSH to Los Angeles as Ben drives Jack and Sun to a church. He then presents Sun with Jin's wedding ring. Sun asks how Ben got it, and Ben tells her Jin gave it to Locke before he left the island. Ben tells them that the people on the island, including Jin, need their help. There's a woman inside the church who can tell them how to get back. Will they go inside with him? Sun says yes, and they're about to go inside when a man calls out to them. They turn to see --

Desmond! He walks over to them and asks what they're doing there. Ben is surprised, and says the same thing Desmond is. Desmond asks to find Faraday's mother? Ben thinks about that for a beat and they go inside to find Eloise Hawking at the altar. She seems disappointed with his small group. She thought she said all of them. Ben says this is all he could get on short notice. Eloise says it'll have to do for now. Let's get started.

BOOM.
