Ben Langston is the man that everyone at the Bedford Institute wants to impress, and with good reason; a wealthy alumnus with a genuine passion for shepherding important new ideas in medicine, Langston presides over a very generous 20 million dollar research grant that can change the career of any doctor lucky enough to be named the recipient.
So when Langston disappears after naming the latest grant winner, Goren and Eames wonder if this seemingly decent man had something to hide. However, when a medical cadaver from Bedford turns up dressed in Langston's clothes and the detectives learn that Langston has been cremated in the cadaver's place, Goren and Eames decide to investigate the three Bedford doctors who were the front runners for the Langston Grant. Soon, they uncover a highly competitive medical culture in which the quest for achievement can outweigh even a doctor's oath to first do no harm.
