Reflecting on his 2020 endorsement, Johnson expressed regret that it had caused division rather than unity. "I realized now going into this election, I will not do that," he said. "My goal is to bring this country together."
Johnson attributed his change of heart to the current state of America, which he described as "unhappy" and plagued by "cancel culture, woke culture, and division." He emphasized the importance of authenticity and being true to oneself, even if it may upset others.
"I will keep my politics to myself. It is between me and the ballot box," he stated. "But I will tell you this: Like a lot of us out there, not trusting of all politicians, I do trust the American people and whoever they vote for that is my president and who I will support 100 percent."
Johnson's announcement comes amid speculation that other celebrities, such as Taylor Swift, who endorsed Biden in 2020, may also withhold their support this year. The loss of Johnson's endorsement is seen as a setback for Biden's campaign as he prepares to face former President Donald Trump in a potential rematch.
Despite speculation about a possible presidential run, Johnson has reiterated his disinterest in politics. "No, that's not my intention. I'm not a politician," he said.
