Upon catching wind of the new campaign, Internet users quickly took to social media to express their disappointment in the actress for her collaboration with the controversial brand.

AceShowbiz - Nicole Kidman landed in hot water after being named as the new face of Balenciaga for its latest campaign launch. Upon catching wind of the new campaign, Internet users quickly took to social media to express their disappointment in the actress for her collaboration with the controversial brand.

Underneath Nicole's Instagram post featuring black-and-white photos of herself attending the fashion show, one fan wrote in the comments section, "Bad choice Nicole!!! Do better!!!" Another fan said, "Disappointed you chose that brand."

Someone else said, "Nice campaign to make us all forget [eyeroll emoji]." One other noted, "Nicole is always such a beauty, but DANG... money must be tight for all these movie stars and musicians too when they have to support that business."

In the said pictures, Nicole looked stunning in a black ensemble with an edgy neckline. She further looked chic with a pair of black shades and gloves that went well with the overall look.

The collaboration between the Australian native and the French-based fashion house came one year after the brand faced backlash for involving children in a BDSM-themed campaign. The said promos featured a kid posing with a bear plush toy that wore BDSM gear. There were also empty wine and champagne glasses in front of the kid.

In response to the criticism, photographer Gabriele Galimberti released a statement which read, "I am not in a position to comment on Balenciaga's choices, but I must stress that I was not entitled in whatsoever manner to neither chose [sic] the products, nor the models, nor the combination of the same. As a photographer, I was only and solely requested to lit the given scene, and take the shots according to my signature style."

He continued, "As usual for a commercial shooting, the direction of the campaign and the choice of the objects displayed are not in the hands of the photographer."
