The 'American Idol' alum offers an alternative take on the question whether or not the 'God Control' singer was unfairly judged for her 'care-free, sex-positive' attitude in her 60s.

AceShowbiz - Adam Lambert is a huge Madonna fan - but isn't completely sold on her new album "Madame X".

The 37-year-old opened up about whether he believed the music icon was unfairly judged for her "care-free, sex-positive" attitude in her 60s during an interview with Britain's The Independent newspaper, and offered an alternative take on the criticism.

"I'm a long-time Madonna fan for sure - but here's my question," the "New Eyes" singer remarked. "Does she (get criticised for her attitude to sex)? Or is she getting pushback because of the music she's making?".

"I don't think it's because she's a strong sexual woman. I think it's because she's making the music of 2019 that doesn't fall quite in line with her legacy, perhaps," he continued, adding, "I have to give it to her that she's going for it, and she's ballsy and she's confident."

Madonna recently came under fire for her promo clip for her latest single "God Control" - which strongly resembles the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida - with fans accusing the star of capitalising on the victims of mass shootings. Pulse survivor Patience Carter added she was "truly disturbed" by the video.

The former "American Idol" star went on to reflect that, in his own work, he tries to focus on making music that's "in my world" and isn't led by what's "trendy or cool".

"I never want to turn around and realise that a project I'm working on is me trying too hard to be trendy or cool or young or any of those things," he shared. "At the end of the day, I'm gonna sleep better at night knowing I made an album I like (that's) true to my experience."

Adam is currently gearing up for the release of his fourth studio album "Velvet" and will hit the road as part of Queen + Adam Lambert for a North American tour, which begins on July 10.
