The Grammy host makes sure all nominees will not go home empty handed, so he gives 'consolation puppies' to those don't win the awards.

AceShowbiz - Even the losers will be going home smiling from the 2018 Grammy Awards which is currently taking place at the Madison Square Garden in New York City. Host James Corden is giving out puppies as consolation prizes to those who don't win the Grammys at the Sunday, January 28 ceremony.

"Congratulations Dave Chapelle, now I should say to all the nominees that who are not going home with a Grammy - I don't want anyone to be upset tonight so the good news is nobody goes home empty handed because all night we will be handing out consolation puppies," Corden said. "So if you didn't get a Grammy, you get a puppy."

The camera then panned to show Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan and Sarah Silverman, who lost the award for best comedy album to Dave Chappelle, being handed out the puppies, which of course are much cuter than the gramophone.

"I should tell you, Jerry, be careful, that's Roxy, she's a biter," Corden added. "And then who got Ruby? I think that was Jim Gaffigan. She isn't toilet trained. Just so you know," he went on warning the new owner of the puppy.

The puppies have apparently stolen attention at the event. Anna Kendrick, one of the guests at the award show, tweeted, "One of consolation puppies just got walked past me so the night is pretty much downhill from here. #GRAMMYs."

Returning as the host for the Grammy Awards for the second year in a row, Corden joked about being the "least diverse host in Grammys history." He said in his monologue, "We don't just have the most diverse group of nominees in Grammys history, we also have, for the second year in a row, the least diverse host in Grammys history."

Corden, who recently welcomed his third child, a daughter named Charlotte, with wife Julia, came to the event solo. "Normally she would [be my date]," the British actor/comedian told PEOPLE. "We just had a daughter, and she's only 5 weeks old, so it feels soon to travel as a family. But there will be a lot of FaceTiming."
