The teaser offers a glimpse of the downfall of the legendary Penn State head coach Joe Paterno after his assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was involved in child sex abuse scandal.

AceShowbiz - HBO has released the first teaser trailer of "Paterno" (previously known as "Happy Valley"), a TV movie about former Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno. The 48-second video doesn't reveal much, but offers a look at the sudden downfall of the legendary football coach.

"Dad, did you know about Jerry?" his son asks, which only receives silent response from Paterno. There's also a glimpse of Jerry Sandusky being forced into a police car and Sandusky leading a boy into an elevator.

The film follows Paterno, the winningest coach in college football history who builds a powerhouse football program that turns him into a campus deity. When his former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky is revealed to be a pedophile and it comes out Paterno was told and helped hide the scandal, his legacy is challenged by his role in the Sandusky scandal.

Paterno was fired in November 2011 after coaching the Penn State Nittany Lions for 45 years. He died two months later in early 2012 of complications from lung cancer.

Sandusky used the East Area Locker Rooms at Penn State to abuse children he met through his The Second Mile charity. He was found guilty on 45 counts of sexual abuse against young boys and was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison in 2012, which is effectively a life sentence at his age (now 73).

Al Pacino plays the title character, with Riley Keough starring as journalist Sara Ganim. Also supporting the cast are Kathy Baker, Greg Grunberg and Annie Parisse among others.

The film was picked by up HBO in 2013, but the network suspended pre-production on the project in 2014 due to budget issues. The project moved forward in mid-2017 with Barry Levinson on board as director.

The biography drama will be released sometime this spring.
