AceShowbiz - Shakira was forced to pull the plug on the first show of her upcoming world tour. The 40-year-old Colombian singer was supposed to kick off her roadshow on Wednesday, November 8 in Germany, but she was unable to perform due to vocal strain.
"During these last few days of rehearsals, I have unfortunately strained my vocal cords and as a result, my doctors have ordered me to go on vocal rest to avoid any greater damage that could keep me from performing. I'm devastated to have to miss our first show on November 8th in Koln," she announced on her official website.
"I love my German fans so much and was really looking forward to sharing my first show with you. As much as it pains me, I know I need to heed the advice of my doctors and recover so I can give you all everything I've got once I'm on the road and not risk any further injury," she explained further.
She promised to reschedule the show, "The Live Nation team is working hard to find a new date for me to come back and share this exciting show with you which I feel is going to be my best one yet. I am focusing on recovering now to be able to kick off on November 10th in Paris, as soon as I get the green light from my doctors."
The mother of two concluded, "Thanks as always from the bottom of my heart for all the support and love you've shown me heading into this tour. I hope to make it worth the wait and see you all very soon!"
Shakira mapped out a new tour to support her 11th studio album "El Dorado" which was released in May. She will travel Europe until early December and took a month break for Christmas and New Year holidays. She will resume the tour with a bunch of North American concerts starting January 9. She is expected to stay on road until February 10, 2018.
