AceShowbiz - "Game of Thrones" has added "Into the Badlands" actor to its cast for its upcoming eighth and final season. German actor Marc Rissmann has reportedly landed the role of Harry Strickland, a character whom readers of George R.R. Martin's books are already familiar with.
Harry Strickland is the leader of the mercenary group known as the Golden Company which Cersei sent Euron Greyjoy to fetch in season 7 finale. Should the casting report be true, this means Euron succeeds in his mission and Cersei gets more support for her army.
The casting news was first revealed via a theatrical agency's announcement, though it has since been removed. According to the original casting notice, the role is for two episodes.
Rissmann played Nos in season 2 of AMC's "Into the Badlands". The actor is also known for his role as Tekil on BBC America's "The Last Kingdom". He recently appeared on Sky Atlantic's miniseries "Riviera" starring Julia Stiles.
Production on the final season of "Game of Thrones" is scheduled to begin this month and will continue until next summer, meaning that the new season likely won't arrive until 2019. "Our production people are trying to figure out a timeline for the shoot and how much time the special effects take," HBO's president of programming Casey Bloys told The Hollywood Reporter about the eighth season premiere.
Meanwhile, star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau revealed that the cast of the hit series wouldn't be getting full scripts for the final season to avoid leaks. "The first season we got the scripts like you should get them and then you could sit and do notes and stuff," he said. "And then after a couple of years, they got paranoid because there was some leaks so we had to get them only digital, on a PDF file."
"And then the hack happened, so now we're not even going to get the script," the Jaime Lannister depicter explained. "Now we are going to do a scene, we will be told what's going to happen and then we roll." He added that they would now get their lines through earpieces. "We're all going to have earpieces for the scene and then someone's going to tell you the line and then you're going to do the line," he said.
