AceShowbiz - Starz hypes up the upcoming premiere of its "American Gods" adaptation by releasing a new trailer. The new promo is gorier than the one debuted during San Diego Comic-Con 2016 as it previews some graphic violence and bloody scenes.
The new trailer highlights ex-con Shadow Moon (%cRicky Whittle%) who gets caught up in "really weird s**t" as he becomes bodyguard for Mr. Wednesday (%cIan McShane%), who prepares for a war between Old and New Gods. "It will be glorious win or lose," someone says in voiceover.
Based on Neil Gaiman's Hugo and Nebula Award-winning novel, "American Gods" pits Old Gods against New Gods, with the ancient mythological ones fearing irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology and celebrity offered by the younger deities.
The cast also includes %cKristin Chenoweth% as Easter, %cGillian Anderson% as Media, %cBruce Langley% as the Technical Boy, %cPablo Schreiber% as Mad Sweeney, %cEmily Browning% as Laura Moon, %cYetide Badaki% as Bilquis, %cCrispin Glover% as Mr. World, %cJonathan Tucker% as Low Key Lyesmith, %cPeter Stormare% as Czernobog, %cDemore Barnes% as Mr. Ibis, %cCloris Leachman% as Zorya Vechernyaya, and %cOrlando Jones% as Mr. Nancy.
From Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, the fantasy drama series is set to bow on Sunday, April 30 at 9 P.M. ET/PT on Starz. David Slade directs the pilot and additional episodes.
