AceShowbiz - Less than a month before its premiere, NBC keeps teasing upcoming live musical production "The Wiz Live!" by sharing more footage in a new promo video. The cast is seen singing and dancing to their version of "Brand New Day" in the 40-second sneak peek which also introduces its key characters.
Shanice Williams plays Dorothy, Alan Grier is the Cowardly Lion, Ne-Yo stars as the Tin Man, Elijah Kelley portrays the Scarecrow and Queen Latifah is seen declaring herself as the powerful wizard of Oz toward the end of the video.
Also in the video, viewers finally get the first look at rapper Common as the Bouncer, Uzo Aduba as Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, and Amber Riley as Addaperle, the Good Witch of the North.
In another promo video, the stars team up for a cheerful rendition of "Ease on Down the Road" which is likely to featured in the upcoming live musical as well.
An adaptation of a 1975 Broadway hit based on "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", NBC's "The Wiz Live!" reimagines L. Frank Baum's tale with an all-black cast and an NYC-inspired Land of Oz.
It follows Dorothy, a young woman from Kansas, who is swept up in a tornado and relocated to a fantasy world. She eventually takes a path down a yellow brick road to find a wizard who can help her go home and along the way meets a scarecrow, tin man and cowardly lion, who all learn to help one another.
The holiday special is set to air Thursday, December 3.
