'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' ends with somber tone while 'Real Time with Bill Maher' poses a question, 'Why do they hate us?'.

AceShowbiz - Late-show hosts Stephen Colbert and Bill Maher reacted to the devastating terrorist attacks in Paris. "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" ended with the host sending prayer to the French capital while "Real Time with Bill Maher" addressed the incident during a panel.

"Folks, we end tonight's show with a heavy heart because we taped all of tonight's show and then we found out about the horrific attacks in Paris today," Colbert said." We add our thoughts and prayers to everyone in Paris, and now, um, we'll see you on Monday, um, ... Goodnight."

Meanwhile, Maher opened his show by singing the French national anthem. "Before we get to the hilarity ... I just want to say one thing to the people of Paris," the host said before singing "La Marseillaise". He added, "I'm not a very good singer, but that's my way of saying, 'We're with you.' "

Maher later asked his panel, "Why do they hate us?" As he was met with silence from his guests Dylan Ratigan, Michael Steele, and Jay Leno, Maher joked, "I've stumped the panel." Leno later said during the chat, "It's like when you watch Star Trek. Kirk goes to the other planet and he brings democracy. They don't want it. They don't care about it."
