The former 'Baywatch' actor claims in a YouTube video that he has officially removed a part of his name as he shows a legal certificate revealing his new name.

AceShowbiz - David Hasselhoff claimed that he had officially removed a part of his name. The former "Baywatch" actor, who has famously been nicknamed "The Hoff" for years, was more than excited to announce his name change on Twitter on Thursday, November 12.

"Big news today and a massive relief for me. I hope everyone can understand... it feels great!" the 63-year-old actor/musician wrote alongside a link to a YouTube video titled "David Hoff - Goodbye David Hasselhoff" showing him revealing his new name.

The video showed David in a white long-sleeved shirt with some top part left unbuttoned. "I've been wanting to drop off the Hassel from my life for years. Now I have made it official," the "True Survivor" singer said while pointing at a legal certificate showing his new name, "David Hoff." Despite the name change, he didn't explain why he opted to remove Hassel from his name.

A few hours after David made the announcement, a rep for him explained that he didn't really alter his name. The rep told Page Six, "It's an excerpt from an ad campaign that launches in Australia this weekend. David is just having some fun and more will be revealed in the next 24 hours."
