After renewing 'Top Chef Master' for a second season, Bravo TV announces that it will debut a new show where pastry chefs can compete with their best skill.

Dessert will finally get its solo spotlight on "Top Chef". Bravo TV is cooking up the idea to have a spin-off which focus is making mouth-watering desserts. Variety reports that casting is underway for chefs to participate on "Top Chef: Just Desserts".

The spin-off is born out of the fact that desserts often become a stumbling block for chefs who had competed on the original show. "Their Achilles heel is usually the desserts," Bravo exec VP-general manager Frances Berwick said. "As this has gone on, we've been thinking that it would be fun to do a 'Top Chef' with experienced pastry chefs. We've had a few pastry chefs on 'Top Chef,' but they haven't gone too far. It's just a different skill."

Berwick also saw the big picture by observing viewers' demand. "We're finding people really love this franchise, and there seems to be no end to the interest in it," she said. Additionally, the recession had caused people "enjoying the experience of cooking at home."

Similar to "Top Chef", the pastry chefs joining the competition will be placed under one house and face elimination every week. There is no personality cast to host the new show yet but decisions will be made "over the next few weeks". Coming from Magical Elves, "Just Desserts" will be premiered in 2010.
