First Photo and Clip of Robert Zemeckis' 'A Christmas Carol'
Movie

Walt Disney Pictures have released the first official photo and a promo clip from the Robert Zemeckis' upcoming 3-D motion picture, presenting a look at Jim Carrey's Ebenezer Scrooge.

AceShowbiz - The first official image and a promo clip of Walt Disney's 3-D motion picture "A Christmas Carol (2009)" have arrived. Outed by Latino Review, both of the picture and the less than 20-second snippet take the focus on Jim Carrey's Ebenezer Scrooge as the nasty, miserly businessman gets a visit from Jacob Marley warning him that he will be haunted by 3 spirits.

On Monday, May 18, a sneak peek to this performance capture animation was presented at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. A total of about eight minutes footage was shown, exhibiting a montage from the whole movie as well as two early scenes, one is Scrooge's "Humbug!" declaration about Christmas to his merry nephew, while the other is the old man's visitation by the specter of his deceased business partner.

At the event which made merry with a snowy set up designed to welcome the stars and crew, lead actor Carrey said of Alistair Sim's performance as Scrooge for his inspiration. "The one thing I will say that I wanted to, not replicate, but definitely have some of it in there, was the bitterness that he portrayed," Carrey said.

"The way he had sourness in his character," he furthermore explained. "It wasn't just on the surface. You imagined that he had the worst case of acid reflux on Earth. There was a true bitterness, a foul taste in his mouth, and that was something that I wanted to consider."

"A Christmas Carol" is a re-invention of the classic Charles Dickens tale. Brought into the big screen by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, it will see Jim Carrey in a multitude of roles. Featuring also the likes of Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Robin Wright Penn, this film will be released in Disney Digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D on November 6.
