The director-actor duo, Steven Spielberg and Will Smith, has been reported to be in early negotiations for the remake project of Chan Wook-Park's 'Oldboy'.

Rumor has it, Steven Spielberg and Will Smith have found a project that may allow them to work together. According to Variety, the director-actor pair has been involved in early talks about collaborating their star powers on "Oldboy", a remake to Chan Wook-Park's 2003 Japanese manga adaptation.

Reportedly, Spielberg has been seeking for a chance to team up with the "I Am Legend" star. Hence, if all goes according to plan, he will finally have the opportunity to direct Smith as the 40-year-old Hollywood star is said to be considered for the lead role of the kidnapped man. Additionally, the filmmaker is said to be looking for a writer to develop the movie.

The original "Oldboy" tells the story of a man who is kidnapped and is taken hostage in a shabby cell for 15 years without any explanation. When he is released one day, he soon realizes that he is not 100|percent| out from the web of conspiracy and strangeness. Filled with vengeance, he strives to find the one who destroyed his life.
