In the opening scene of "I'm Dying Up Here," the pilot episode of the new Showtime comedy series, comedian Goldie Herschlag (Ari Graynor) takes the stage at The Comedy Store, a legendary Los Angeles nightclub that has been a proving ground for some of the biggest names in comedy. Goldie is nervous, but she's also determined to make her dreams of becoming a successful stand-up comedian a reality. As she begins her set, the audience is initially skeptical, but Goldie quickly wins them over with her sharp wit and self-deprecating humor.
