A Monster Calls is an upcoming 2016 Spanish-English-language fantasy drama film directed by J. A. Bayona and written by Patrick Ness, based on his 2011 novel of the same name. It stars Lewis MacDougall, Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell, and Liam Neeson. The film follows a young boy who struggles to cope with his mother's illness and his grief over her death, and who is visited by a tree monster who tells him stories and teaches him about facing his fears.
