Hell or High Water is a 2016 American neo-Western crime drama film directed by David Mackenzie and written by Taylor Sheridan, who based the screenplay on a story he had heard from his father. The film follows two brothers (Chris Pine and Ben Foster) who rob banks in order to buy back their family ranch. The film's title refers to a phrase that the brothers' father (Jeff Bridges) uses to describe the lengths to which they will go to save their land.
