In this exclusive preview clip from The Middle's upcoming season finale, titled "The Middle 7.22," Frankie (Patricia Heaton) and Mike (Neil Flynn) are getting ready for bed when Axl (Charlie McDermott) comes home from college. Axl tells his parents that he's flunked out of college and he's not sure what he's going to do next. Frankie and Mike are disappointed, but they tell Axl that they'll support him no matter what. The clip ends with Axl asking his parents if he can move back home, and Frankie and Mike agreeing.
