## Production

Winning Time was developed by Max Borenstein and Jim Hecht, who also wrote the pilot episode. The series was ordered to series by HBO in March 2020, with Adam McKay set to direct the pilot. McKay was later replaced by Jonah Hill, who directed the first two episodes of the series.

The series was filmed in Los Angeles, California. Principal photography began in February 2021 and wrapped in September 2021.
