'Under the Dome' and 'Extant' Renewed for Summer 2015

CBS renewed two of its shows at the same time for new summer seasons. "" will return for a third season while freshman drama "" will get a second season, the network announced on Thursday, October 9.

"We're committed to delivering our viewers and advertisers year-round programming with a wide variety of storytelling," said Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment. "We continue to see summer as a great place for unique concepts, innovative business models and passionate television audiences."

"" will resurrect a dead character in an upcoming episode. Entertainment Weekly has got its hand on a picture of Britt Robertson's Angie, who was killed off in the second season premiere, in the episode tittled "The Fall", which is set to air Monday, September 1.

In the image, Angie gives a blank look while blood is seen dripping from her forehead. According to the site, "she will reunite with former flame and captor Junior (Alexander Koch) in the infamous storm shelter, where he was last seen cuddling with Melanie (Grace Victoria Cox) while guarding the egg."

A new promo for "" season 2 has been released to tide fans over the upcoming return of last year's hit summer series. It mostly features scenes which have been shown in the previous promo video, but has some new footage including the one which teases catastrophe in a global scale.

"It's not just us. The whole planet could be affected," says Joe. His friend Norrie is later seen saying, "It just doesn't make sense. I thought the dome was here to protect us," while things get moved by mysterious telekinetic power and people begin falling onto the ground. Big Jim asks helplessly, "Tell me what to do. Tell me!" while Angie is seen screaming.

Summer is still a month away, but fans can now get a look at the second season of "". Making its way out online, the first promo for the upcoming installment of the drama series hints that there will be some mysterious telekinetic power affecting the town's residents.

People are seen being dragged against their will and collapsing, but Big Jim is the only one who's not affected by the mysterious power. As a young officer suggests, "I think the Dome is trying to tell us something," Big Jim cries, "Tell me what to do. Tell me!"

CBS' summer series "" had a strong start. The new drama, based on Stephen King's novel of the same title, drew 13.5 million viewers and 3.3 rating among adults 18-49 (after adjustment) on its debut Monday night, June 24, according to Nielsen.

It marked the biggest audience for a new summer scripted show on CBS since "2000 Malibu Road" delivered 17.05 million viewers in 1992 and the most-watched summer debut for any network since NBC's "The Singing Bee" in 2007. It also matched FOX's "" as the second-highest new drama debut this year, while NBC's "" still holds the first place.

After teasing it in several videos, CBS has shared the first footage from its upcoming summer series "". The sneak peek offers a look at a bloody hand print, a screaming girl and a car crash which all happen after a town is cut off from the rest of the world by a mysterious, impenetrable barrier that surrounds the town.

Based on Stephen King's novel of the same title, the sci-fi horror series is set in a small New England town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town's inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from and if and when it will go away.
