TNT Cancels 'Mob City' After Just One Season

TNT is drawing the curtain on "" after just one-short season. The network announced the show's cancellation on Monday, February 10 after airing all six ordered episodes last December.

A TNT spokesperson said, " 'Mob City' was created as a three-week television event and we are incredibly proud of the six hours we presented of this remarkable drama. Although the ratings of the limited series haven't warranted more hours we are eager to work with Frank Darabont again and were delighted to bring the vibrant world of 'Mob City' to life."

The video gives a preview of a police officer declaring a war against mobsters in Los Angeles as a gangland kingpin rises to the top of L.A.'s criminal world and takes over the city.

Jeremy Luke stars as Mickey Cohen, a former boxer who turns into the most dangerous mobster in L.A., while Neal McDonough plays William H. Parker, the chief of the L.A.P.D. bent on taken down Cohen. Caught in the conflict between Parker and Cohen is Joe Teague, a marine turned police officer, portrayed by former "Walking Dead" star .

Frank Darabont's upcoming period drama "" has got its first trailer and a premiere date. The police procedural series, which was known as "L.A. Noir" and "Lost Angels", is set to debut Wednesday, December 4 at 10 P.M. on TNT.

The trailer hints at how intense the mob drama is, showing many merciless killings and dead bodies on streets. Dialogs are scarce and plot details are vague in the video, but a synopsis has been released for the show.

TNT has given a greenlight to Frank Darabont's first project following his resignation as "" showrunner. Previously known as "L.A. Noir", the currently untitled period drama has been picked up to series and ordered for a total of six episodes.

Based on John Buntin's book "L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America's Most Seductive City", the series chronicles the epic battle between Los Angeles Police Chief William Parker and mobster Mickey Cohen. It is described as a fast-paced crime drama which is set in Los Angeles during the 1940s and '50s.

After being confirmed to have got a pilot order, "L.A. Noir" is now in search for actors. According to Variety, , who plays sheriff deputy Shane Walsh in "", is in early negotiations with TNT to tackle the lead role of L.A. cop Joe Teague in the new drama.

The talks reportedly have barely begun and there's no assurance whether or not a deal would be reached. If the negotiations go well, it would mark Bernthal's reunion with Frank Darabont, who developed the new show shortly after quitting the AMC series.

Frank Darabont's new series "L.A. Noir" has landed on TNT. The network has ordered a pilot from the former showrunner of "" for the project which he started shopping shortly after he quit the AMC series.

"L.A. Noir" is based on John Buntin's book "L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America's Most Seductive City". Set in the '40s and '50s, it chronicles the true story of the conflict between the Los Angeles Police Department and the crimeworld, led by mobster and former boxer Mickey Cohen.
