'Mildred Pierce' and 'Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' Hailed by Art Directors Guild

After scoring Outstanding Art Direction for a Miniseries or Movie at the 2011 Emmy Awards, the Kate Winslet-starring show nabbed a gong for excellence in production design for Television Movie or Miniseries at the 16th Annual Art Directors Guild Awards, beating out "Cinema Verite", "Too Big to Fail" and more.
In a Half Hour Single-Camera Television Series category, "Modern Family" came out as the winner after competing against the likes of "30 Rock", "Weeds" and "Californication". "Boardwalk Empire", meanwhile, won the title of best production design for One-Hour Single Camera Television Series, edging out other critically-acclaimed shows "Game of Thrones" and "American Horror Story".

April 01, 2011 03:04:35HBO has released some clips and a promo video ahead of "Mildred Pierce" part 3 airing on Sunday, April 3. The sneak peeks mostly highlight the hectic situation in the kitchen as Mildred moves forward with preparations for her new chicken-and-pie restaurant.
After a slow start on opening night, the restaurant fills to capacity, and Mildred gladly welcomes Ida - her former fellow waitress at the diner - to help manage the frenzy. Among the guests is Monty, who wastes no time reacquainting himself with Mildred, and impressing Veda with his refined stature.

Two clips are debuted each for the part 1 and part 2 of the HBO's drama, highlighting Mildred Pierce's relationship with her daughter as well as some men circling her life.
A divorced single mom, Pierce decides to open a restaurant business which tears at the already-strained relationship with her ambitious elder daughter, Veda, during the Great Depression in middle-class Los Angeles. The story will also explore complex relationships she shares with the indolent men in her life.

March 22, 2011 11:03:24HBO is ready to launch the first part of its miniseries "Mildred Pierce" on March 27. In order to promote the show, leading stars Kate Winslet, Evan Rachel Wood, Melissa Leo and Guy Pearce stepped out to Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City on Monday, March 21 and did a red carpet appearance for the press.
Winslet, who plays the titular character, was dressed in Stella McCartney and carried a Calvin Klein bag. Co-star Pearce suited up in Burberry suit while Wood donned a plum long sleeve jersey cocktail dress and matching peep-toe platforms from Elie Saab.

'Mildred Pierce' Filming Halted Because Kate Winslet Was Badly Bruised
May 26, 2010 10:05:16Filming on Kate Winslet's new TV mini-series has been suspended after the actress fell over and hit her head during a game of basketball with her kids. The "Titanic" star has been shooting new HBO show "Mildred Pierce" in New York City, but production was halted on Monday, May 24 after she suffered a mishap while playing with Mia, nine, and Joe, six - her two children with estranged husband Sam Mendes.
Winslet reportedly bumped her head when she fell over and was left badly bruised, forcing TV bosses to shut down production on the series. A source tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "She fell after being hit by a basketball and suffered bruising that couldn't be covered with make-up, so the entire production was halted (on) Monday."

During the filming, Winslet was dressed in a floral tea dress with brown coat.
