'Life Unexpected' Signed Off With Fast Forward

While The CW remains mum on the fate of "", the show quietly signed off on Tuesday, January 18 with two hour episodes which could both serve as the season and series finale. [Spoiler Alert] Five minutes into the end, the show jumped two years later to Lux's graduation and a lot have changed since.

Should the show return for season 3, they have a lot of explaining to do including how Lux ends up with Jones and Tasha is okay with it. But more importantly, how Cate and Baze turn up to be a couple after all and Ryan is happy with Julia and their son. Less explanation is required for Math's girlfriend's pregnancy.

'Life Unexpected' Not Picked Up for Full Season

Sad news came for "" fans. The CW show could not retain the season 1 rating when it premiered the sophomore year this Fall and the network has canceled plan to order a full season.

The network is not extending the second season beyond its initial 13-episode order. In other words, it would be a short season and January would probably the series finale if the number doesn't pick up. Deadline said the writers have been inclining towards a wrapped-up story in order to give fans a satisfying finale.

'One Tree Hill' and 'Life Unexpected' Doing Crossover

Perhaps in an attempt to crank up the rating for both series, "" and "" will be doing a crossover episode on October 12. Two characters from "Hill", 's Haley and 's Mia will guest star in "Unexpected", sharing screen with 's Cate.

In a way their worlds indeed collide with Haley and Mia's job as musician and Cate's profession as a radio jockey. According to Entertainment Weekly, Haley and Mia will travel to Portland to perform at a music festival sponsored by Cate's radio station. An insider said, "Haley and Cate are surprised to learn that they share a similar back story [as] mothers."

The CW is in generous mood to give out a four-minute preview of its new show "". Beginning with an introduction of the three leading characters, the promo continues with the plot that Lux becomes the reason for Baze and Cate to grow up.

After spending all of her 15 years bouncing from one foster family to another in Portland, Oregon, Lux has decided it's time to take control of her life and become an emancipated minor. Her journey through the legal maze leads Lux to her biological father, 30-something Nate "Baze" Bazile, who owns a bar, lives like an aging frat-boy with two slacker roommates, and is astonished to learn that he has a teenage daughter.

'One Tree Hill' and 'Gossip Girl' to Take a Break in Midseason

In order to give "" a room, The CW's Monday night line-up will have to be benched. In that case, "" and "" will take a six-week break each, being shuffled with "Unexpected" which is currently slated for 13 episodes only.

"Gossip" is taking the hiatus from January to February while "Hill" will rest between March to April. In the meantime, "Unexpected" will bounce from the 8/7c and 9/8c timeslots throughout. The shuffle will begin on January 18 with "Hill" airing in its usual 8/7c slot followed by the season premiere of "Unexpected".
