Mel tries to take sometime for herself before the baby is born but her water breaks just as she gets ready to start her day. When Mel alerts Sam that she is in labor, he overreacts, accidentally dropping his phone in a mailbox which makes it impossible for him to hear which hospital Dick and Angela are taking Mel. A misunderstanding with a postal worker lands him in the hospital where they give Sam an epidural; he is determined to reach Mel and breaks out of the hospital in order to find her before their daughter's birth.
