Whitney Episode 2.08 Space Invaders

Alex is on his way out the door to drop a letter off in the mailbox. Whitney says she wants to join him. She just needs to stop by the dry cleaners on the way then the farmer's market on the way home. Also, she needs to take a shower and put on her makeup. Alex immediately regrets inviting her to join him.

Later at Low Bar, RJ tells the group that he has to watch his niece and that she'll be hanging out at the bar tomorrow. Alex informs everyone that he'll be out of town at a tech conference for the weekend. Whitney, Lily and Roxanne decide to have a girls' night out.

Whitney, Lily and Roxanne venture out of their comfort zone to another bar in town. Shortly after their arrival, they spot Alex relaxing in the corner. Whitney is appalled, because Alex told her that he would be out of town at a tech conference. He lied to her. Whitney calls Alex, and he avoids answering the phone. Whitney storms out of the bar and Alex follows her home.

At home, Alex confesses that he lied to Whitney because he needed some alone time. Whitney overreacts, and Alex explains that the reason he lied is because he knew that Whitney would react in this way. They decide to go to couples counseling with their old friend, Dr. Grant, who advises Alex to be very careful with Whitney because she's hanging by a thread.

Back at Low Bar, Lily is trying to befriend RJ's niece by making a tiara, but Maggie isn't interested. She's too busy reading Sports Illustrated. Lily is frustrated, because she's usually really good with kids. Roxanne comes in and expresses no interest in Maggie whatsoever, and Maggie is captivated. This makes Lily jealous.

At the therapist's office, Dr. Grant runs Whitney and Alex through some simple mirroring exercises. Dr. Grant deduces that Whitney has serious trust issues, and she always thinks that Alex is lying to her. After the therapy session, Whitney decides to give Alex some space and stay home while Alex heads to Low Bar.

At Low Bar, Mark engages Maggie in a sports conversation. She's clearly a sports nut well beyond her years, but Mark disagrees with everything she says. Alex shows up, and the gang immediately tells him that he handled Whitney incorrectly. Alex heads back home, but Whitney is nowhere to be found.

Whitney shows up later and explains that she went for a walk because she needed some alone time. Alex apologizes for not being able to read Whitney's cryptic messages. Whitney says she's mad that Alex couldn't trust her, but she's also mad at herself because he's right.

At Low Bar, Roxanne and Maggie are getting along swimmingly. Mark tries to continue his sports conversation with Maggie, but he's still frustrated with Maggie's sports opinions. Back at their apartment, Whitney and Alex have made up, and they order a late-night pizza to celebrate.
