Whitney and Alex are attending a fancy charity event when they spot Olympic soccer player Hope Solo across the room. When Hope starts a conversation with Alex, he introduces Whitney as his "friend." He apologizes profusely, but Whitney can't be angry because Alex looked like an idiot in front of Hope Solo.

Lily meets Roxanne and Mark at Low Bar after a date. Mark talks about how he doesn't like dates sleeping over at his apartment. RJ points out that if a girl doesn't want to sleep over, she probably doesn't take him seriously. Mark sets his mind on making his apartment more inviting and comfortable for future dates.

Alex gets a message from his ex-fiance, Chloe, saying that she'll be in the city for the weekend and she'd like to stay with Alex and Whitney. Whitney forbids it, but Alex is nervous about breaking the news to Chloe because she has a tendency to be an emotional wreck sometimes. Nonetheless, Whitney is not backing down.

Later, Chloe arrives at the apartment. Chloe makes herself at home, making Whitney incredibly uncomfortable. Whitney decides to go downstairs to Mark's apartment to get away from her for a while. Mark asks Whitney to investigate his apartment to find things that deter women from staying the night at his place. Whitney quickly points out Mark's plastic cups and collection of hairbands from previous dates.

Upstairs, Chloe is using Alex's computer to chat with Alex's mom. Her boyfriend calls, and Chloe lies about where she's staying. Chloe's boyfriend catches on to the rouse and breaks up with her. Chloe immediately becomes an emotional wreck. Alex can't handle it.

Lily stops by Low Bar before a date. She laments over the fact that she doesn't have an apartment to take her date back to, and Roxanne reluctantly agrees to let Lily have the apartment for the night. Back at Mark's apartment, Whitney tells Mark that when he finds the right girl, none of his idiosyncrasies will matter. Alex stops by to apologize to Whitney. Whitney agrees to help Alex deal with Chloe.

Whitney struggles to get Chloe to the couch. Alex decides to make Chloe a sandwich while Whitney tries to help her get over the break up. Chloe lists a number of things that she didn't like about her boyfriend, and she begins to realize that all of her ex-boyfriends are the same. Chloe and Whitney are clearly hitting it off.

Roxanne stops by Mark's place to kill some time while Lily and her date are using the apartment. She compliments Mark's plastic cups and his collection of past girlfriends' hairbands. She decides to just stay the night, but she warns Mark not to touch her while she's sleeping.
