Welcome to the Family Episode 1.02 Dan Finds Out

Caroline tries to confirm her pregnancy at the doctor's, but when Junior and Molly show up for their own sonogram, things start to get dicey! Soon enough the whole family's there, and inevitably, Dan and Miguel start bickering. Molly complains they're ruining an otherwise beautiful moment: "Hey! Miracle of life here, if anyone's interested!" Sentimental Miguel starts crying, which is when Dan offers a tissue... or testicles. After ushering the family out the door, Caroline rushes back into the doctor's office to get her own sonogram. Unfortunately, Molly realizes she forgot her bag when she gets in her car. When Junior runs back in to retrieve it, he accidentally walks in on Caroline mid-sonogram... and sees her embryo plain as day on the screen.

Molly and Junior desperately want their fathers to be friends, but even a surprise lunch date can't seem to break down the barriers between them. Dan tries out Miguel's gym again, but instead of trading physical jabs, all the men do is embark on an insult war. Furious, Dan leaves the gym laced into boxing gloves that he has no hope of removing on his own.

Lisette shows up at Caroline's with a giant loaf of pan dulce and a knowing smile. One thing Caroline will come to know about Junior is that he's not great at keeping secrets... When Caroline confesses she's been unable to break her big news to Dan, Lisette advises her quicker is better - rip off the Band-Aid and call Dan right now! Caroline nervously makes the call, and the shock of the news drives Dan's foot down on the gas pedal and into the side of Miguel's truck. Dan steps out of his car, loses all power of speech and runs away.

Dan has been missing for hours when Lisette calls Miguel, insisting he take his car off the tow truck and go find Dan. After driving all over the city, Miguel finds Dan running the stairs at the reservoir. When Dan refuses to get in the car, Miguel offers to let him take one swing at his face - which is all very cathartic, but Dan needs more. Miguel agrees to let Dan hit him again... but only if he gets a shot at Dan too. After the two agree to duke it out right there in the street, they end their fight with a knockdown, incapacitating, double-nut punch!

A calmer Dan goes home and hugs his wife; they're going to have a baby! He doesn't know how they'll manage it, but what other choice do they have? The two share an emotional moment before Caroline tells Dan his odor is almost too much to handle... he agrees to address the issue. Later, Dan and Caroline go to the doctor's office to examine the sonogram together. It's too much for Dan to handle, and he cries a little. He's coming around to the idea of being a father again.
