Chris and Reagan are remodeling their bathroom. Reagan's contractor brother, Scott, has agreed to handle the remodeling job, but Reagan is hesitant to trust her underachieving brother. Chris assures her that Scott can handle the job, and eventually their excitement rubs off on Reagan. She's just starting to enjoy smashing her old shower with a sledgehammer when Ava charges in with bad news: she's just heard that The Ava Show has been cancelled.

Reagan is on the brink of a nervous breakdown about The Ava Show being cancelled. Chris tries his best to calm Reagan down. Eventually Chris and Scott decide to take a trip to the tile store, giving Ava and Reagan time to mourn the loss of their show. On the way, Chris and Scott do a little male bonding, then Chris decides to make an unscheduled stop at his old law firm.

Meanwhile, Reagan and Ava mull over their career options. Ava spitballs ideas about new shows they can do, but Reagan thinks that maybe they should take a breather to figure out what they really want to do. Chris returns from the tile store and announces that he got his old job back in order to support the family while Reagan is out of work.

After learning that Chris is returning to work, Reagan decides that she wants to be a stay-at-home mom for a while, which sends Ava into a panic. Feeling abandoned by Reagan, Ava says goodbye to the family and heads off on her own to find a new job.

The next morning, Chris appears in a dapper lawyer suit for his first day back at the law firm. On his way out, Ava stops by to announce that she has an interview with The Today Show, and she needs wardrobe advice... from Chris. Chris is flattered that Ava would ask him for fashion advice, but Reagan sees right through the ploy, telling Chris that Ava is just trying to make Reagan jealous for choosing to stay at home.

Chris arrives at the law office and is greeted by boxes of legal documents. His boss informs him that he'll be working on the same case he had when he left the firm two years ago, vowing to keep the client in court for as long as possible. Chris quickly realizes that he has absolutely no desire to go back to the firm.

Reagan sneaks into The Today Show to help Ava prepare for her interview. Ava, still upset about Reagan's decision to abandon her professional career and become a stay-at-home mom, refuses to accept Reagan's help. Against Reagan's advice, she does a screen test in a see-through blouse.

Chris arrives home from his first day at the office, and he is not happy. He runs into Scott, who is hard at work remodeling the bathroom, and the two have a heart-to-heart chat. Chris admits that he hates working at the law office, and Scott informs Chris that he hates his boss; but he puts up with it so that he can take care of his kid.

Ava confronts Reagan at the playground, blaming Reagan for psyching her out before the interview. Reagan denies the claim, saying that Ava can't accomplish anything on her own. Ava fires back, saying that without her, Reagan would be nothing. The two decide that their friendship is over, and Ava kisses every child at the playground as a display of power.

Chris visits Scott's construction site and meets his awful boss. While at the site, Chris has an incredible idea: he suggests that he and Scott go into business together. Scott can handle the construction while Chris takes care of the business side of things. Scott likes the idea, and relishes the thought of finally telling his boss off. But when it comes time to do so, Scott is simply too kind to muster anything more than a few mild insults.

Reagan heads to The Ava Show headquarters to clean out her office. She quickly realizes that Ava is also there doing the same thing. The two begin blasting the same music, turning their own speakers up to out-do one another. Later, they run into each other in the kitchen, apologize and become best friends again. To celebrate, they steal a golf cart and run from security guards.

Reagan and Ava arrive home to find Scott and Chris in the living room. Chris reveals Reagan's recently installed Jacuzzi bathtub, which she loves. Unfortunately, Scott accidentally tells Reagan that he and Chris have decided to go into business together. Reagan begins to freak out, but Chris quickly shoves her into the bathroom to calm down.
