Lizzy looks through Samantha's closet for something to wear to her 90-days sober ceremony on Sunday night and secretly takes a phone call. She quickly hangs up when Samantha asks her what's taking so long to pick out an outfit. Samantha agrees Lizzy can borrow her little black dress that she had planned on wearing in San Francisco while away with Steven. Upon hearing that they'll be out of town again, Lizzy worries that they will end up missing her ceremony because of "hotel business," but Samantha reassures her they will be back in time.

Meanwhile in North Korea, brilliant particle physicist Shin Won attempts to enter the top-secret research lab where he works in order to retrieve a mysterious item without being caught. He grabs the item and escapes out the window, narrowly missing the guards. His accomplice helps him crawl through his office window on the floor below, where he furiously pulls off his black jumpsuit and resumes his position at his desk. The guards come to his office to inform him of the security breach and he shoos them away, but not before the guard notices the sweat pouring from Shin Won's face. The guards eventually leave. Won hurries home, instructs his daughter May to get her stuff and the two quickly leave. Won tells May he is leaving, that Sun will keep her safe and that he will send someone for her. She hugs her father, agrees to be brave and tells him she loves him.

Back in the U.S., Steven and Samantha meet Shaw in his hotel room for information on their next mission. Shin Won is to attend a particle physics symposium in Geneva, Switzerland the following day and current top-secret assessments suggest he may be carrying a prototype of the Delta, his latest invention. The Pentagon reports the Delta to have limitless weaponry applications and the ability to change physical matter to liquid, and thus is of interest to other countries. Luckily, Shin Won has contacted the U.S., and it is Steven and Samantha's mission to facilitate his defection.

At home later that night, Samantha packs while Steven tells her what he has learned about the Delta. When he realizes she is obviously upset and not listening, Steven reassures her they will make it back for Lizzy's ceremony and they'll reschedule their San Francisco trip for next weekend. Samantha informs Steven that they can't go next weekend because they're hosting a dinner party, much to Steven's displeasure.

The next day Steven and Samantha are in the lobby of the hotel in Geneva where the symposium is to take place. Steven spots Shin Won, flanked by two watchful security guards. Meanwhile in North Korea, Shin Won's accomplice Dae-Jung has been taken captive by North Korean guards, who demand information about how the Delta disappeared and its current whereabouts. Fearful of being tortured, Dae-Jung reveals it is Shin Won who has the Delta. Back in Geneva, Shin Won delivers his presentation, still eagerly watched by his guards. The guards abruptly escort Shin Won from the podium and take him to the back elevators. Hoyt gains control of the elevators and Steven gets Shin Won away from the guards.

Now in the custody of Steven and Samantha, Shin Won explains that he will not give up the information about the Delta unless they get his daughter out of North Korea. Steven and Samantha video chat with Shaw, who declines their request to enter North Korea. They refuse to listen and tell Shin Won they have been cleared to extract his daughter.

Steven and Samantha enter Pyongyang, North Korea disguised as Canadian food relief inspectors. The North Korean government forces them to travel with a government tour guide, whom they quickly outsmart and escape. Meanwhile, the North Korean police capture May, Shin Won's daughter, and interrogate her about her father. While Steven and Samantha search the apartment for May, a French intelligence team also shows up. Marcel and Camille, another husband-and-wife team, were sent on the same mission to extract May from North Korea.

Samantha and Steven bicker but ultimately decide to work together with the French couple to rescue May. Samantha receives a text from Lizzy asking why she's not at the ceremony. Samantha hates having to lie to Lizzy and worries that next time she will not forgive her. Samantha comes to the realization that living this double life and lying to her friends, family and staff is not going to be easy as she had hoped. The four spies draft a plan to infiltrate the station May is being held. But in the confusion, the French duo manages to double-cross Samantha and Steven and escape with the girl.

Samantha and Steven return to the hotel room in Geneva to find Hoyt asleep and Shin Won gone. Upon reviewing the security tapes of Won's presentation earlier in the conference, Steven and Hoyt realize that the Delta is actually the presentation remote and is currently under the podium in the conference room of the hotel. Meanwhile, the French let Shin Won see his daughter. He proceeds to tell Marcel and Camille the whereabouts of the Delta.

Before Steven can make it to the podium, Marcel grabs the Delta, leading Steven on a foot chase. Samantha takes down Camille and Steven ultimately takes down Marcel, capturing the Delta.

Shin Won and May happily reunite and Shin Won thanks Samantha for everything. When Steven and Samantha return home, Shaw expresses his anger about not following protocol, but ultimately congratulates them on a job well done. Samantha returns to Bloom Catering, apologizes to Lizzy and promises to never let her down again. Over a romantic dinner for two, Steven and Samantha reconcile their differences and agree to try to live a normal life.
