Archie is declaring his candidacy for borough president and he wants Hilda to be part of the television segment profiling him.

Christina is so upset over learning that William isn't hers that she hasn't been going into work. Betty's been covering for her this whole time but begs her to come back for the party celebrating Calvin Hartley's investment in Meade Publications.

Daniel is nervous before the party saying, "Nothing is official until he signs on the dotted line." Wilhelmina brings in William since Hartley loves children. "Once he gets a glance at my little angel, he'll be putty in our hands," she tells Betty.

Christina shows up, "bright-eyed and bushy-tailed," but when she sees the item Betty is mending for her is one of the baby's sweaters, she falters.

The entire staff of Mode assembles for Hartley's arrival. Wilhelmina excuses herself to go check on her baby and Cal begs to see him. But when they all march in to see William, they find his crib empty! Wilhelmina immediately points the police to Christina, but she insists she didn't do it.

Christina is released by the police and immediately leaves Mode. Betty follows her to her car and is shocked when she hears an infant's cry: Baby William is in the backseat! Christina panics and drives off with Betty in the car.

Christina admits she just "snapped" when she knew the baby was at work. She's 100 percent sure that he's her son, despite the DNA test. She even shows Betty a photo of herself as an infant, which looks just like William. A cop pulls them over and they fear the worst, but she only cites them for a broken tail light and lets them go.

Daniel is trying to get through the presentation but he can't keep his mind on business when the office is crawling with police and Wilhelmina is losing it. Cal, surprisingly, agrees to make himself available the next morning.

Hilda is preparing for Archie's interview, while Justin watches the news of the Slater baby kidnapping in the kitchen. Just as Suzuki St. Pierre asks the public, "Where is that baby?" Christina and Betty walk in with William. Hilda orders Betty to get out, because a scandalous connection like this would ruin Archie's career, but she agrees to distract the film crew while Betty and Christina sneak upstairs.

A security guard shows Wilhelmina a security tape of Stuart, Christina's boyfriend, taking the baby out of the building. Marc is relieved, since he knows that the baby will be safe with Christina. But Wilhelmina tells him they're in a race against the clock before the "truth" comes out. "I had the DNA test faked," she admits. "The baby's not mine. It's Christina's."

Betty calls Claire for help. She meets them at a DNA testing facility but the police close in and arrest everyone. Betty pleads for Daniel to let them do another DNA test, for Christina's sake, so Daniel asks Wilhelmina what harm it would do. Willy refuses and Christina and Stuart are taken off to jail.

Marc congratulates Wilhelmina on convincing everyone that the baby is hers, thereby securing her position, and his, at Mode. A moody, and guilt-ridden Wilhelmina is left alone with the baby.

Hilda forgives Betty, saying it's all okay since Archie didn't find out. But Archie tells them he knows since Justin told him everything. Archie understands, but advises them to fight dirty.

Betty shows up at Wilhelmina's door and tells her, "I know the truth. That baby doesn't belong with you." She claims she can prove it by having the baby's spit-up tested. But Wilhelmina calls her bluff: She can tell the difference between baby's spit-up and a strawberry milkshake.

Betty admits she doesn't have any DNA evidence, but declares, "I don't have your money and I don't have your power, but I know the truth. And I will fight until it comes out. It'll be so much easier if you tell the truth now."

The next day Wilhelmina announces to the press that after discovering the "error" in the DNA test, she had no choice but to tell the truth and give the baby back to his rightful mother.

Claire is ecstatic that, without William's shares in the company, Wilhelmina has no position left at Mode. Before Hartley signs the paperwork finalizing the deal, Claire blurts out, "You're fired," to Wilhelmina.

"That is a shame," Hartley says, adding that if Wilhelmina's out, so is he. So Hartley signs and Wilhelmina stays.

Wilhelmina thanks Betty for the "tell the truth" pep talk. What Betty doesn't know is that Willy spilled the truth first to Hartley, who was impressed when she told him just how far she was willing to go to keep her place in the company.

Christina and Stuart arrive to pick up little William, and thank Betty for all she's done for them. Betty is crushed to hear that they're moving back to Scotland to be near their family. Christina swears she won't give up on her dream of being a designer. "That's something I learned from a very dear friend," she tells Betty.
