Betty tries not to let Kimmie's promotion to associate editor get to her but it's difficult when Kimmie throws her success in her face: "In just two weeks, I've gotten higher than you have in two years," she boasts.

Betty's musician neighbor, Jesse, serenades her with the advice, "Go for it, Betty" and Betty decides to pitch Daniel on an item for the "Sizzling Hot" issue. She seizes on the idea of fruit and discovers that the obscure Brazilian Tico berry is beloved by supermodel Adriana Lima, who agrees to her first-ever Mode cover. Daniel calls it a "giant coup" for the magazine and hands the project off to Betty, much to Kimmie's dismay, whose "Hot Club" feature is now being dropped. "Game on, Betty," vows Kimmie.

Betty is being interviewed on live TV about the Adriana Lima cover but Kimmie convinces the camera men to increase the lighting so much that Betty sweats profusely and has to step off camera. Kimmie steps in to finish the interview and gets assigned to help "polish" the photo shoot since Betty was such a disaster.

Betty tells Kimmie they have to learn to work together, but Kimmie has other ideas. "The shoot is in two days. My bet is that by the time it happens, one of us will be gone. And it's not going to be me." When Betty goes to protest to Daniel, he points out that he and Wilhelmina don't exactly get along either.

Marc and Amanda plot Kimmie's demise when she gives them the "busy, busy" brushoff. "We invented that," Amanda says, vowing to go "nuclear" on Kimmie.

Teaming up with Betty, they convince Kimmie to remove a necklace Wilhelmina wants in the shoot. At the last minute, however, Betty has a crisis of conscience and tries to tell Kimmie to put the necklace back in, but Kimmie doesn't believe her, saying, "You're oozing jealous, bitter, ooze. I see right through your stupid plan."

Wilhelmina fires Kimmie on the spot when she refuses to use the necklace, so Kimmie throws the precious Tico berries into a slimy pond. Without the berries, there'll be no shoot, but Betty remembers she put some in the fruit basket she sent to Adriana and saves the day. Daniel tells Betty, "I owe you an apology about Kimmie. She was a bad seed," and presents her with a gift: Her own business cards.

Connor Owens, a renowned CFO, tells Wilhelmina that he's a fan. She offers him a job at Meade, but he says that he doesn't get along with Daniel. After a tense meeting where the men's dislike is obvious, Daniel agrees to hand over the business side of Meade to Connor. But getting his "enemy" onboard is exactly what Daniel wanted. "We did it. And Wilhelmina has no idea," he says when Connor congratulates him.

Ignacio is excited to vote in his very first presidential election and Hilda is excited too, since her poll-day promotion to voters is giving her record business. She's so busy that she doesn't have time to vote and Ignacio reminds her how important her vote is. She tells him that "making money," is more American than voting. A council man, Archie Rodriguez, comes in for a haircut and warns Hilda that she needs a business license or she might get shut down, so she kicks him out.
