In the terrorist attack on Homeworld Command, the communication stones were buried. Young, hoping that the bomb was defused and someone will get word to Destiny, has set up a constant, rotating watch on the stones, but no contact has been made.

Chloe, fatigued from worry, drifts to sleep for a moment, but when she wakes up, it's Ginn's consciousness that speaks through her mouth. Everyone is perplexed that this girl, thought dead, can be present, and set about to solve the mystery. Eli's contribution to this effort is tinged with the loving desire to see Ginn's consciousness safely preserved. But this complicated situation soon gets yet another layer: After bouts of choking, seemingly brought on by nothing, Ginn's consciousness slips away and Chloe returns to her own body. No one knows what to do, and before long, the two women are switching back and forth at an alarming and unpredictable rate.

TJ wishes she could be of more help with the situation, but her attention is consumed by Volker, who came to her with complaints of dizziness and emerged with the diagnosis of late stage kidney failure. TJ must use her limited means to find a kidney donor onboard - and then perform a transplant herself. Her search turns up Greer as a match and eager volunteer, but TJ's own self-doubt may sabotage the surgery before it's even begun.

And as Eli, Scott and Rush probe their minds and Destiny's database for how to save Ginn while keeping Chloe safe, a third consciousness appears to vie for territory: That of Amanda Perry. Rush's only solution - indeed, the only thing anyone can think of - is to sit Chloe in the chair that claimed Franklin, the one linked to Destiny's mainframe, in hopes that Amanda and Ginn's consciousnesses can be uploaded. They wait for each woman's consciousness to appear, and those closest to each woman consult them on the risks of the procedure. All, knowing there is no other alternative, agree. But when Chloe sits in the chair, another choking fit is brought on. Rush is barely able to get her out alive, and no one is sure if the upload was a success.

This process causes a power surge that shorts out the visual instructions from Destiny's database that TJ was using to perform the surgery. She panics - she could lose both Volker and Greer - but the consciousness of Amanda appears to her. Amanda, fully integrated now with Destiny, is able to talk TJ through the remainder of the process, and TJ, brushing aside the protests of the others in the room, who cannot see what she sees, sews up her patients.

Rush, Scott and Eli are all grateful that their loves are safe - but Rush and Eli must content themselves with the ghostly representations of their companions whose consciousnesses float about in Destiny, incorporeally.
