Sean Saves the World Episode 1.12 The Wrath of Sean

Revenge is a dish best served cold - and it's feeding time for Sean. Rewind: Once upon a time, Sean was a less-than-happily married man trying to figure it all out when his marriage was rocked by his wife having an affair with his then-friend, Roger. Granted, there are bound to be some problems when a gay man and a straight woman tie the knot, but cheating is cheating and Sean's never forgiven Roger. Flash forward to this morning when a peace offering, a fancy bottle of scotch, arrives from the very same Roger. Knowing the backstory, Lorna actually thinks it's a kind gesture, but Sean is light years away from forgiveness. Ellie is kept blissfully in the dark about the affair, with Sean cooking up a barely plausible cover story to throw her off. Still the question nags: why is Roger reaching out? Meanwhile, Lorna's got her own petty obsession: she wants to starve herself thin for the upcoming reunion of her a cappella group.

When Sean arrives at work, Max announces that Roger's going to be one of Pemberton Road's hot new vendors. Sean realizes that Roger's bribing him so he won’t cause trouble. Max is sure that Roger's African-made pottery could be a huge boon for the company, so he's the first one ready to sweep Roger's adulterous dirty deeds under the carpet. But despite Roger's repeated gestures asking forgiveness, Sean offers only a very cold shoulder. Once Roger and Max leave, Sean explains to Hunter and Liz that he's out to derail Roger. But after some lobbying from Liz, who finds Roger cute, and some thinking about it, Sean loosens up a little bit, realizing that forgiveness has its own rewards. Soon after, Sean makes his peace with Roger. But before Sean's even got a chance to enjoy his bliss, he is pulled aside by a livid Liz. She reveals that she kinda sorta started dating Roger, only to find out that he's engaged. Incensed, Liz hurls one of Roger's pots to the floor - only to watch it bounce like a kickball. Lo and behold, the African pottery is in fact not made from sustainable local river mud but some sort of compound rubber that looks like clay. Roger's a phony! Revenge is back on!

Lorna gets her own form of revenge at the a cappella reunion show. Her rival has also been starving herself - and collapses from weakness onstage. Lorna finally gets to sing a solo.

Sean and the gang brief Max, who realizes the phony merchandise could cost the company a fortune. They immediately hatch a plot to take Roger down. They know he's meeting the next morning to discuss a merger with the CEO of Free Eagle, another catalog company. The plot is to surprise Roger at his boardroom presentation and expose him for the phony he is. They storm into the boardroom and confront the fraudulent philanderer in front of his corporate suitor. With dramatic flair, Liz hurls a display pot to the floor, only to watch it shatter. Whoops, wrong pot (strike a blow for Mayan artifacts). But Sean recovers, bouncing one of Roger's pots on the boardroom table. But the CEO of Free Eagle doesn't care - announcing that the pottery will sell either way and they have an army of lawyers to defend the company from unhappy customers. What's more, the CEO announces, the merger is on, with Roger taking a place in the new company - and taking the hand of his daughter. She's just arrived with wedding cake samples for everyone to try. Subterfuge!

Sean, Max, Liz and Hunter pull together for a quick sidebar to decide how best to deliver the deathblow to Roger. But Roger butts in to tell Max that if they'll keep quiet on the stories of his chasing after Liz, he'll throw Pemberton Road some serious business post-merger. Max, of course, is tempted, but Liz and Sean prevail. Liz spills the beans about Roger's lasciviousness and Sean tells Roger's fiancée she'll be making a huge mistake if she marries a person who will cheat on her. He's got the scars to prove it. She glares at Roger; Sean's satisfied that he may have at least have prevented Roger from wrecking a second marriage. Bighearted Sean even offers the girl a warm hug, but it's not exactly the gesture she was looking for. She hurls some sample wedding cake at the Pemberton Road gang before throwing them out, proving no good deed goes unpunished.
