When the ladies leave to run errands, Dave, Rex and Vance try to fill up their free time with varying degrees of success. Vance spends hours looking at himself in the mirror and experimenting with different hairstyles. Dave makes an honorable attempt to work out but becomes sidelined by Julia's gossip rags. Rex can't decide between wine or scotch, "Caddyshack" or porn, and feels a huge sense of relief once Leigh returns!

The gang finishes up a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant. Amy generously foots the bill, causing Vance to wonder about her out-of-control spending. Meanwhile, the entire group worries about Dave's overeating, especially in light of his high cholesterol. Dave argues that he's fine, but Leigh suggests that maybe it's time for him to check out Rex's latest creation: The Man Cave. It's a place where men can be men, a living room of sorts stocked with beer, porn and samurai swords, of course. The next morning, Julia tells Dave that she genuinely worries about Dave's health. She wants to live a long, happy life with him and that means that he's got to curb his appetite. Dave promises to watch what he eats.

At an expensive boutique, Leigh buys clothes while Amy looks on longingly. April promised Vance she'd cut back on her spending, but seeing Leigh treating herself is tough. Leigh easily convinces April to indulge in some retail therapy. Back at Rex's Man Cave, Vance and Dave are having a tough time letting loose. Maybe it's because the Man Cave was Leigh's idea, or maybe it's because they're no longer teenagers, but Vance and Dave feel the whole thing is just too contrived.

Vance shows Julia around a farmer's market and gives her helpful cooking tips. He can't blame Julia for being a terrible chef - after all she's a career woman - but she's got to step up her game if she wants Dave to eat healthy and lose weight. In addition, Vance suggests that having more sex with Dave will do wonders for his waistline… Amy visits the Man Cave in order to hide her shopping bags from Vance. At first Rex rejects the idea, but Amy reminds Rex that there is no judgment allowed in the Man Cave. Surprisingly, Amy finds that she enjoys the Man Cave with its emphasis on drinking and having fun.

After preparing a healthy dinner for Dave, Julia heads out for the night. When she intercepts a pizza delivery guy, she realizes Dave isn't committing to his new diet. Dave admits he's trying to eat right; he's just having a hard time keeping his mind off junk food. Julia knows just what to do: she distracts Dave from food by giving him tons of sex. That is, until she's totally exhausted.Meanwhile, Vance thanks Amy for cutting back on her shopping by giving her a jewelry box. He explains that it'll be the perfect place to store all the bling he'll be able to afford now that she's curtailed her shopping addiction. Feeling guilty, Amy goes to the Man Cave in order to return all her purchases; instead she finds Dave bingeing on nachos!

Rex encourages Amy and Dave to stay in the judgment-free Man Cave, a place where their addictions are accepted and encouraged. In no time, Amy's showing off her newly purchased outfits while Rex and Dave offer fashion tips. Suddenly Julia and Vance charge in! Julia can't believe that Dave's pigging out and Vance is horrified by Amy's brand-new dress! As Dave defends his out-of-control eating, he realizes that he's actually mourning his twenties, a time when he could pig out and be reckless and immature. Dave's insight touches a nerve as everyone realizes they're not totally ready to grow up. Rex passes around booze and encourages everyone to play video games, get drunk, and pig out.

The next morning, each of the couples struggle to battle horrible hangovers. Poor Vance not only has a pounding headache - he's also inexplicably wearing Amy's new dress. Rex and Leigh meanwhile share a morning dance. Looks like these two know how to handle their liquor!

Vance guides Julia through the intensely intricate process of preparing a salad. To convince Vance that she's worthy, Julia must make the perfect dressing, know a thing or two about chantarelles, and avoid giving Dave salmonella poisoning.
