Diane informs Ron that she's pregnant, and Ron sees this as the perfect time to propose to Diane, who gladly accepts. In order to avoid an outlandish wedding, they immediately head upstairs to sign a marriage certificate. In the hallway they encounter Leslie, who becomes flustered upon hearing the news. Leslie goes out of her way to make the intentionally informal wedding as festive as possible, creating a makeshift bouquet out of highlighter pens and tearing up paper to throw in place of rice as the newlyweds depart from the records office.

Later, April announces that she nominated Leslie for an International Coalition of Women in Government Award, and Leslie won. The gang immediately makes plans to head to London for the acceptance ceremony. Meanwhile, Tom begins a quest to find out who owns the competitive swag rental store across the street from Rent-a-Swag.

The next month, Leslie and the gang arrive in London for the awards ceremony. Ron is not thrilled about being in Europe for any amount of time. Meanwhile, Ben and Andy have an appointment with Lord Covington, the head of a British charity foundation, to discuss his sponsorship of one of Ben's nonprofit programs.

At the meeting, Ben quickly realizes that Andy and Lord Covington are two peas in a pod. The two grown-up children have a blast playing with remote controlled helicopters and talking about ice cream while Ben realizes that he's completely out of his element. Fortunately, Lord Covington is excited to help Ben and Andy, provided that Andy agrees to stay in London for a few months to help him get the nonprofit up and running.

Back in Pawnee, Tom utilizes Donna's sleuthing skills to discover that the owner of his rival swag company is none other than Jean-Ralphio's father, Dr. Saperstein. Saperstein thinks that Tom stole the idea for Rent-a-Swag from Jean-Ralphio, but this couldn't be further from the truth. Tom's only chance of combatting his swag rival will be to convince Jean-Ralphio to be honest with his father, a task that's easier said than done.

While in London, Leslie learns that a recall campaign has been initiated back in Pawnee. During her speech at the awards ceremony, she vents her frustration by calling the residents of Pawnee "pee-pee heads." Unbeknownst to her, Gerry has organized a viewing party in Pawnee to watch the ceremony, and the insulting speech fuels the flames of the Leslie Knope recall movement back home.

After Leslie's disastrous speech, Ron attempts to console her by telling her that she chose a thankless government job and therefore shouldn't expect to be thanked. Leslie remembers that she acquired a proper wedding gift to lift Ron out of his Europe-inspired misery. She presents Ron with a detailed road trip itinerary and ensures him that, if he trusts her, the payoff will be more than he could ever ask for.

Back in Pawnee, Tom organizes a meeting with Jean-Ralphio and Dr. Saperstein and forces Jean-Ralphio to tell his father the truth: that Rent-a-Swag was Tom's idea. Dr. Saperstein is pleased that his son has an honest bone in his body, but he refuses to close his competitive swag store because it's turning a profit. It looks like Tom's business struggles are only just beginning.

Upon her return to Pawnee, Leslie is happy to see Ann and Chris, who are excited to tell her that they're pregnant. Still, returning to a tornado of recall chaos has her feeling beaten and defeated. April cheers her up by reading the nomination letter that she submitted for Leslie's award. It's a heartwarming testimony detailing all of Leslie's best attributes, and Leslie is touched by April's uncharacteristically sweet sentiment.

Meanwhile, back in Europe, Ron has finally arrived at his final surprise destination: the Lagavulin Whiskey distillery in Scotland. He couldn't have asked for a better wedding present. Even when Ron is immersed in his own personal version of hell (a socialist European country that worships an old woman and a baby), Leslie manages to find a little slice of heaven just for him.
