A comic book convention turns into a crime scene after a deadly robbery leads to the disappearance of an extremely rare comic. However, the missing comic quickly resurfaces in the form of 20 forgeries, sold quickly and cheaply to unscrupulous buyers hungry to own the rare volume. The team is able to capture the thieves while Charlie works with a comic historian, Seth, to try and figure out which of the comics is real, and which are fake. Working closely with Seth, Charlie notes his compassion for the stolen comic's creator, Ross. Eventually Charlie and the team connect the thieves back to Seth. Seth had set up an elaborate plan to confuse the comic community, and to get the valuable missing comic back in Ross's hands, who had spent all of his money on his failing health.
