Mr. Sunshine Episode 1.07 Celebrity Tennis

Alonzo is holding a charity tennis tourney. He's slated to play the legendary Jimmy Connors. Sadly, his partner was run over by a woman who was tweeting while driving. In a related story, Crystal just joined Twitter. Alonzo has no choice but to ask Ben to be his doubles partner. Be forewarned-Ben's a grunter.

Crystal's early morning vehicular tweeticide caused her to miss a breakfast date with Roman. The kid brings mom a muffin to help her cope with her thoughtlessness. Later, Roman works as a ball boy while Ben and Alonzo practice for their big match. He's a real go-getter when it comes to ball-fetching. He's also a sitting duck when his tweeting mother cruises onto the court in her golf cart. TWACK! Ball boy down! Ball boy down!

Crystal has no idea what to tell the paramedics when they ask about Roman's medical history. Fortunately, Heather knows he's allergic to everything. She also knows his blood type. It's O-positive and tastes salty. Worried that her son may sue, Crystal makes him the guest of honor at the tennis gala. But all Roman wants are two types of potatoes and to hang with his mom.

Alice told Alonzo that her last boyfriend was a real jerk. He was selfish. He had commitment issues. Alonzo also says the guy was bad in bed. This causes Ben to blurt that he's the lame lover of which he speaks (though he denies being bad in bed). Alonzo is stunned. He's also upset that Alice kept this juicy tidbit a secret. Looks like the stage has been set for a super-awkward dinner at the charity gala!

Tennis great Jimmy Connors thinks the hobbled Roman is one of the kids with the disease they are combating at the charity event. He offers to be Roman's body for the night. That means lots of starch for the former champ once the entrées are served. There's a veiled conversation about the macaroni (Alice) enjoying mashed potatoes (Alonzo) while she was still having tater tots (Ben). Told ya there'd be a lot of starch.

Alice gets upset and hides in the bathroom. Ben reminds Alonzo that, at the end of the day, he got the girl. When Alice finally emerges from the ladies room, she and Alonzo start sucking face like there's no tomorrow. When they come up for air, Alice apologizes to Ben for dismissing what they had together. By the way, the boyfriend who was bad in bed was the guy Alice dated before Ben. Whew!

As for Crystal and Roman, their great night of bonding almost goes south when he realizes she was initially being nice so he wouldn't sue. Roman won't take legal action as long his mom doesn't miss their next breakfast date. Crystal is impressed with this negotiation. She says, "You are your mother's son." Crystal may even tweet about the night on her ride home. Sure hope she doesn't run into Jimmy Connors.
