Jane and the team investigate the murder of a wealthy old heiress whose charred remains are found in the living room of a spooky mansion. Due to the victim's wealth, the list of suspects is quite lengthy. She had a nephew who was suing her in order to take control of the family fortune, a doctor who was overprescribing her pain medication, and an acquaintance at a veteran's home who was an erratic alcoholic. Even when the pieces of the puzzle come together, though, Jane has a feeling that something about this case hasn’t been right from the start.
