Faraday walks into the Others' camp with his gun. Hiding in the jungle and watching, Kate says to Jack that this is a mistake, Faraday is crazy. Jack asks what if this is why they're here? What if this is their only way to put things back the way they're supposed to be? But before Kate can respond -- BLAM! They hear a gunshot. They look towards the sound and see Faraday fall over dead. Jack leaps to his feet, about to run over when Kate stops him. They'll shoot him, too! But then two men gallop up on horseback with rifles. One man swings his rifle and smashes it down on Jack's head. The other man warns Kate not to move. The first man dismounts, and we see it's Charles Widmore in his 40s. He asks Jack who they are.

Widmore marches Jack and Kate into the Others' camp. He sees Faraday's body and asks what happened. Richard explains that the man came into their camp pointing a gun at Richard and Eloise reacted. Eloise asks Jack and Kate if they came with this man. Jack says yes, and Eloise orders them to her tent. Widmore asks why the Dharma Initiative has declared war on them, and Eloise says that these people aren't from the Dharma Initiative. Widmore asks where are they from?

WHOOSH to thirty years later with Richard Alpert in his tent working on a ship in a bottle when a woman comes running in and says he's back. Richard looks out to see Locke walking into camp. It's been three years -- Richard asks what happened to Locke? Locke says he'll explain on the way. He and Richard have an important errand to run. Richard is studying Locke, and Locke asks if something was wrong. Richard says there's something different about Locke. Locke says he has a purpose now.

Behind Locke, Sun and Ben walk into the camp. Sun sees Locke talking to Richard and asks why Locke said these were his people. Ben says when he left the island John became their leader. She asks who Richard is, and he explains that Richard is sort of like an advisor. And he's had that job a very, very long time. Sun crosses over to Richard and asks him if he was on the island in 1977. She shows him the Dharma new recruits photo from 1977 and says these people were here thirty years ago with her husband, Jin Kwon. Does Richard remember any of them? Richard says yes, he remembers meeting them very clearly because the day after he met them -- he watched them all die.

WHOOSH back to Kate and Jack. She asks what he meant when he said they needed to put things back the way they were supposed to be. Jack says if they can do what Faraday said, then their plane never crashes. Oceanic 815 lands in Los Angeles, and everyone who died since they got there would still be alive. Kate asks what about them? They go on with their lives because they never met? Jack says all the misery is wiped clean. Kate is angry and says it wasn't all misery, but Jack says enough of it was.

Eloise enters and asks why the man she shot wanted the bomb. Jack says she wouldn't believe him if he told her. Eloise says when she was 17 she took a young man out to that bomb because it was dangerous. He told her to bury it and everything would be okay. He knew this because he was from the future. Then he disappeared right in front of her -- and ten minutes ago she just shot him in the back. Before he died, he told her he was her son. She opens the journal to the first page and asks how it's her handwriting if she doesn't remember writing it? Jack says because she hasn't written it yet. He says what she did was an accident, but what if there was a way to take it back? Faraday came back to the island because he figured out a way to change things. He doesn't have to be dead. If they do what he wrote in his journal, then none of this will have happened. Eloise asks Kate if Jack knows what he's talking about, and Kate says he thinks he does. Eloise agrees to take them to the bomb, but there's one small issue. They secured it underground over 20 years ago, but since then the Dharma Initiative have built an entire village over it. Getting in and out may be more complicated now.

At the Dharma security station, Radzinsky and his black jumpsuited guards handcuff Sawyer and Juliet to chairs in the security station. Radzinsky asks where Kate is now, but Sawyer won't say. SMACK! Radzinsky blasts Sawyer across the face. Horace tries to stop him, but Radzinsky says he's getting answers. Horace says he's in charge, but Radzinsky says no longer. Because if they're going to protect their people, Horace won't have the stomach for what happens next. Horace realizes he's outnumbered, so he steps back. Phil smashes Sawyer's face against the monitors as Radzinsky asks where Kate is. And if Sawyer doesn't answer, Radzinsky is going to kill him.

Juliet yells at Radzinsky to stop. She tries to reason with Radzinsky, but Sawyer tells her to stop. He ain't going to believe anything she says, and it's only going to get more people hurt. Phil says he can make LaFleur talk -- and he suddenly punches Juliet in the face! Sawyer is furious, and he warns Phil that he's a dead man. Mitch comes in and and says they can't find Miles and Jin. He hands Radzinsky the list of new recruits from the sub manifest and points out the three last minute add-ons. Radzinsky asks who Hugo Reyes is, and Phil says the fat guy.

Hurley is at the pantry taking as much food as he can in a rucksack and sneaks off. However, in the distance, Dr. Chang is watching him and decides to follow him. Hurley goes into the jungle on the outskirts of the barracks to where Miles and Jin are hiding. He asks what the rescue plan is for Sawyer and Juliet, but Miles says there are 30 of them with guns. They can only rescue themselves, so let's go. Hurley says Sawyer would never leave them behind. Then Chang emerges from the jungle, and Miles asks what he's doing there. Chang wants to know if Faraday was telling the truth. Is Miles his son? Hurley lies and says no. Chang asks him what year he was born, who's the president -- but Hurley can't think fast enough. He caves and says yes, they're from the future... and Miles is Chang's son. Faraday said there was going to be a massive accident at the Swan and to evacuate everyone from the island, so Chang asks if that's true. Miles says Faraday has been right about everything so far, so if he said to get everyone off the island... Chang should do it.

In the Others' camp, Eloise tells Richard that he and Erik are coming with her. They are to untie Jack and Kate, and she is taking them to the bomb. Eloise and Widmore talk privately, and he rests his hand on her stomach. Jack asks Richard who Widmore is. Richard tells him, and says that love is sometimes complicated.

WHOOSH to 30 years later as Locke, Richard and Ben trek through the jungle. Richard asks again where Locke has been for the last three years, and Locke is amazed that Richard doesn't know. Richard says Locke disappeared right in front of him, and Locke says he's about to see where he disappeared to. And once they're done, he wants Richard to take him to see Jacob. Richard is unsure about doing that, Locke says he's the leader now and he wants to see Jacob. Richard agrees to take him.

They reach the edge of the clearing with the crashing Nigerian drug plane, and Ben sees someone moving around. Locke tells Richard he only has a few minutes to get this right. He tells them the man down there needs Richard's help. He's been shot in the leg and Richard has to get the bullet out. Then Richard has to tell him he needs to bring everyone who left back to the island. And when he asks how to do that, Richard needs to tell him he has to die. Ben asks who the man is, and Locke says it's him.

Ben watches as Richard walks over to the Locke by the plane. Ben asks the Locke standing next to him how he knew when to be here, and Locke says the island told him. Ben points out that the island didn't tell Locke where to find Jacob or he wouldn't need Richard to show him. Locke realizes that Ben has never seen Jacob, but Ben claims he has.

WHOOSH to the Dharma security office as Chang rushes in to tell them they need to evacuate the island right now, and is disgusted to see Horace and Radzinsky torturing Sawyer and Juliet. Chang explains an accident is about to happen at the Swan construction site and they need to evacuate the island. Radzinsky declares that they are not stopping anything. Sawyer says that Chang is right and that it ain't safe. He asks them to put him and Juliet on the sub. He makes an offer: if they put them on the sub, he'll tell them everything they want to know. Radzinsky agrees, and Sawyer starts drawing a map to the location of the Others.

Eloise and Richard lead Kate and Jack to a pond in the jungle. They have to swim under the pond to get to the tunnels where they stored the bomb. Kate refuses to go. She wants to return to the barracks but Erik won't let her go. Suddenly -- BAM! A shot rings out, and another shot. Erik falls over dead. Sayid steps out of the jungle, gun drawn on Eloise and Richard. Jack explains his plan to change things to Sayid, but Sayid says he already changed things -- he killed Ben. But Kate says he didn't kill him -- she brought him to the Others and they saved him. Sayid asks why, and Kate asks when shooting kids and blowing up bombs became okay? Jack tells her this is why they were brought back to the island -- that it's their destiny. Kate tells him that he sounds like Locke, and even Jack said Locke was crazy. Kate leaves to go back and get the rest of their people, saying maybe they can stop Jack. Richard, Jack, Eloise and Sayid dive in and swim through underwater tunnels. They surface into an underground cavern, and Richard leads them through the maze of tunnels to the bomb.

At the dock, the Dharma women and child are rushed onto the sub. Miles watches from a distance as his mother and father argue. Finally, hurt and upset, she gets on the sub with baby Miles. Then they see Sawyer and Juliet being lead to the sub in cuffs. Hurley says not to worry -- Sawyer always has a plan. As the sub hatch is about to close, Phil brings Kate in. They cuff her in between Sawyer and Juliet, and then the sub takes off. Sawyer, Kate and Juliet are out to sea and really leaving the island.

WHOOSH to Locke, Ben and Richard as they return to the beach camp. Locke says they are leaving right then to take everyone to see Jacob. If that man is telling them what to do, then he'd like to know who he is. As they head out, Richard confesses to Ben that he thinks John Locke is going to be trouble, and Ben says why does he think he tried to kill him. As they trek up the beach, Ben works his way up to Locke and whispers that Richard has some concerns and reservations about Locke's leadership. Locke thanks Ben for telling him. Ben says he's there to follow Locke, so if Jacob will help reunite him with this people -- but Locke interrupts Ben and says he's not interested in reuniting with his people. He's going to see Jacob so he can kill him.

BOOM.
