Detectives Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Eames (Kathryn Erbe) are called in from time with their families to help Commissioner Leland Dockerty (guest star Michael Biehn) and his wife, Elaine (guest star Fran Drescher) find their daughter, a female soldier, who goes missing while home on leave. Goren struggles to remain professional and attentive to the case while his ailing mother (guest star Rita Moreno) takes a turn for the worse.
