Mary finally returns home after her harrowing kidnapping ordeal at the hands of the maniacal Spanky only to learn that Brandi's involvement with Chuck-who was shot dead right in front of Mary-not only got Mary into that horrible mess in the first place, but could cost her her career. Mary tells Brandi that since she is under investigation for her part in the murder of two FBI Agents, she will have to report anything that Brandi tells her to the proper authorities. This is the one time that she cannot help her sister. Both Brandi and Jinx are stunned that Mary won't get involved, but after what Mary has been through and what's at stake for her, it's clear that she's as serious as a heart attack.
Meanwhile, the "tweaker" woman from the motel room, Rachel, who was hiding her baby in the bathtub, fingers Brandi in the aborted crystal meth drug deal in exchange for immunity for her and her baby. Marshall and Stan break the bad news to Mary, adding that if even a small part of what Rachel said was true, Mary would be on the hook since Brandi was living in the house of a Federal Marshal as she orchestrated a major drug deal that resulted in the murder of two FBI Agents. At best, it would mean the end of Mary's career; at worst, a felony indictment. They recommend that Mary find out what Brandi knows and turn her in while they're going to see what they can do to force Spanky, who was just found and brought back into custody, to tell the truth about Chuck's drug trafficking and clear the Shannon sisters' names.
Now Mary has the biggest decision of her life to make-one that could cost her both her career and her family. Should she come to the rescue of her baby sister one more time? And can she save her career and herself in the process?
