Still reeling from the lie she was forced to tell her sister, Ellen informs Brian that they have to try and kill Duncan, ending their time as hostages before he and his team can ruin any other parts of their lives. Bryan suggests using the poison that Duncan gave Ellen for the president, but Ellen is hesitant, since she isn't sure exactly what the poison is. Instead, she tells Brian that she'll go talk to her father's fixer friend - the attorney who helped guide her through the difficult time after she killed a rapist. That fixer, turns out to be Burton, Duncan's father-in-law. Ellen is shocked that someone she trusted as much as Burton could be involved in the conspiracy to kill the President, and he imparts a grave warning to her: if she kills Duncan or fails to go through with the assassination, both he and her entire family will be killed. Ellen races home to stop Brian from poisoning Duncan, but arrives just as Brian gets the drop on him and plunges a poison-filled syringe into Duncan's chest... Meanwhile, it is revealed that Archer is in prison to tie up a loose end: Malik, who witnessed Angela's murder and is planning to spill the beans to the Assistant District Attorney later that day. Archer initially tries to corner Malik and take him out with a prison shank, but a guard interrupts and tips Malik off to the danger. Archer is forced to recruit some other prisoners to start a prison riot, during which he sneaks up on Malik and strangles him to death. While at school, Morgan is interviewed by a social services worker, Nancy Singleton, who was tipped off by her OB/GYN about a potential case of abuse. Both Morgan and Jake try to play off their injuries as sports or accident related, but this only strengthens Singleton's suspicions.
