After an intense elimination, the blue team is shocked that Chef Ramsay has chosen Andy to stay in Hell's Kitchen instead of Robert. Meanwhile, the women express their concern that Suzanne's lack of teamwork is starting to disrupt the red team's morale.

The next day, Chef Ramsay surprises the aspiring chefs with a classic culinary challenge: the blind taste test. One member from each team must go head-to-head utilizing only their senses of taste to identify several types of foods. Beleaguered chef Andy feels like this will be his time to prove himself to his team and more importantly, to Chef Ramsay. The women jump to an early lead, but as their lead dissipates, the pressure for Andy to succeed grows. Ultimately, Andy faces off with Amanda but fails to bring victory to the men. The women find out they will be rewarded with a unique culinary experience while the men must make sorbet by hand for dinner service.

As the blue team enters a kitchen filled with boxes of fruit, they start to realize the scope of their punishment: not only must they sort and remove all seeds from the fruits and separate three type of berries by hand, they must also hand polish all the sorbet glasses at the bar for dinner service. For lunch, Chef Scott brings in delicious duck, beef and scallop entrees... and proceeds to pour them in the blender. Despite their disgust, the starving men gamely drink their lunch, which only Van enjoys. Meanwhile, the red team joins Chef Ramsay at a one-of-a-kind restaurant in Los Angeles named Opaque where they will dine in the dark. When the lights go off, everyone has a great dining experience until Suzanne once again starts annoying her team by sucking up to Chef Ramsay.

The following day, Hell's Kitchen prepares for its eighth dinner service. As the blue team works hard prepping their kitchen, the women have chosen to alienate Suzanne. Despite rising tensions within the red team, the women are still hopeful on winning dinner service for the second time in a row.

The doors of Hell's Kitchen open for dinner service and both teams get off to a good start and Kevin and Ariel are serving palate-cleansing sorbet to the diners in no time. In the blue kitchen, with Kevin out in the dining room, Van takes over the appetizer station and his attempts at risotto are deemed a disaster by Chef Ramsay. Meanwhile, communication issues are taking their toll in the red kitchen and Amanda performs poorly on the garnish station. When a diner returns undercooked lamb, Chef Ramsay sends a tearful Sabrina out into the dining room to eat her mistake in front of all the guests. Back in the blue kitchen, Andy runs low on mashed potatoes, infuriating Chef Ramsay. Andy's apologies have little effect, forcing Dave to step in and prepare more mashed potatoes in the middle of dinner service. Despite mishaps in both kitchens, the men and women manage to finish the service.

Afterwards, Chef Ramsay is not pleased with either team's performance but chooses the blue team as the winner. From the losing team, Tennille is chosen as best of the worst and must decide on two nominees to go up for elimination. In the dorms, the women have an intense deliberation where Suzanne is finally confronted for not being a team player. Tennille tells Suzanne that she is without a doubt her first nominee because of lack of teamwork but her second nominee will be a much tougher decision to make. The rest of the women are left nervous about who will be joining Suzanne on the chopping block.

At elimination, Tennille nominates Suzanne and Sabrina but Chef Ramsay surprises everyone by having Amanda be the third nominee. After Suzanne, Sabrina and Amanda plea for their future in the competition, Chef Ramsay decides to end Amanda's time in Hell's Kitchen do to a poor performance on the garnish station. The red team is not pleased with Chef Ramsay's choice in having Suzanne stay yet another day in Hell's Kitchen.
