Hell's Kitchen Episode 11.16 5 Chefs Compete, Part 2 of 3

After being awarded their black jackets, the five remaining competitors learn they will be going head-to-head with five former Hell's Kitchen winners at the next dinner service. Chef Ramsay introduces them to Rock from Season 3, Christina from Season 4, Dave from Season 6, Nona from Season 8 and Paul from Season 9.

They also learn that each team must come up with one distinctive appetizer and entr?e to be added to the classic Hell's Kitchen menu. And the teams will have to decide which chef will be on each station.

After brainstorming all night, both teams return to the kitchen in the morning to prepare a sample of their entr?es and appetizers for Chef Ramsay's review. While Susan expresses concern that there isn't enough time for her group to prepare their duck confit, the champions are feeling confident in their creations.

With less than an hour before the doors open for dinner, Chef Ramsay tastes the evening's specials from both teams. But the current contestants have a problem when they are unable to serve their duck confit. In contrast, Chef Ramsay praises the champions' selections. When the final five present a second attempt at their dishes for the evening, they too get a stamp of approval.

As the guests arrive, the current competitors in the Red Kitchen are off to a strong start on appetizers. But the champions get off to a rocky start when Nona briefly struggles on the risotto station.

Despite Ja'Nel and Susan being on slightly different pages, they still manage to push apps out at a very steady pace. But over in the Blue Kitchen, there is a slight backlog on scallops and risotto, and Rock is getting confused.

Moving on to entr?es, it's up to Paul on the meat station and Christina on fish to keep the momentum going for the champions. With just one last ticket to push out of the Red Kitchen, Susan miscommunicates her timing on the capellini and throws her team off track.

As the final five begin to work on entr?es, over in the Blue Kitchen there is a minor setback on the meat station. Paul refires the lamb, but it is still too rare for the customer.

While the chefs in the Red Kitchen continue to show how they became the final five, Paul has managed to catch up, and the champions are kicking into high gear. Although the current competitors do complete service first, Cyndi's lamb is sent back for being too pink. To top it off, her refire is still not properly prepared.

Meanwhile, in the Blue Kitchen, the proud champs are pushing out their last entr?es. With dinner service almost complete, the diners start to fill out their comment cards.

Although Chef Ramsay says that both teams performed very well, he explains that he's leaving it up to the patrons to pick a winner. While 93% of the diners from the final five's kitchen said they would return to the restaurant, the champions edge them out with a 95% approval rating.

After the past winners leave Hell's Kitchen, Chef Ramsay asks the final five to choose two nominees for elimination. They choose Susan because of her timing issues with the capellini and Cyndi for having difficulties with the meat.

In the end, because they had such a strong service, Chef Ramsay tells Susan and Cyndi to keep their black jackets. No one will be sent home this week, but he warns them that there may be more than one chef eliminated at the next ceremony.
